Hi all,

Last year we held 2 pre-planning meets. The first was 11am-2pm on the Saturday of the weekend before Nano began, the second was the following Tuesday, 5-8pm. Both of these were held at CB2 Bistro in Norfolk Street, Cambridge.

Are people interested in repeating these meets? If so, are the days and times okay? - the dates in this case would be the 24th and the 27th October. - the location?

For those who don't know, a Pre-Planning meet is for doing anything at all in preparation for writing your novel which doesn't include actually writing any of it. So, character sketches, chapter plans, maps of locations, lists of possible names, time-lines, etc. Anything really which doesn't include beginning to write any of your 50k words. Some people find this kind of planning very, very, useful and it can be good for overcoming Writer's Block if it sets in mid-November.

Let me know what you think. :-)

The 24th & 27th sound good to me. CB2 again?

I would think so, but we'll have to wait until the weekend to confirm as sniglet can't even think about speaking to them until her exams are over. We'll post to confirm as soon as she has. :-)

These meets sound like a good idea to me. I can make it to the one on the 24th but probably not the 27th.

howdy y'all -

Unfortunately, CB2 is unavailable on the 27th.

Would you like me to try to find someplace else suitable, or try to switch it to the following day? Or are you OK with forgoing this session altogether & just planning extra hard at the Saturday 24 one?

Saturday 24th is good for me, but I doubt I'll make a midweek one - I have a programming course for four days next week *eek* !

Nope. Nobody answered, so I didn't book anything.

I thought about it but couldn't think of anywhere else to suggest. There's a lack of places open late in the evening that aren't proper restaurants or pubs...

The central library is open until 7pm tonight, but I don't know how they are for big groups sitting, discussing, cursing, flailing, etc.*

How would Borders be if we take over several small tables in the coffee shop? I don't know the power situation up there for the laptop brigade.

*those last two points usually reserved for me

My CWIL group used to meet in Borders before they began shutting their Starbucks progressively earlier each week. Not sure what their closing time is now. The store itself closes at 9 (used to be 11, then 10...)
