Nanowrimo is coming ever closer and we'd like to get together with everyone before the mayhem starts so we can flail about our unpreparedness, our hopes and dreams, and the ways we'll bind our inner editor.
Everyone will be able to mingle, discuss plots and put faces to names before we all return to the keyboard dungeon we'll be chained to for the month.
Rather than sit in a cafe this year, we'd like to have a picnic, so if you're able, please bring some food to share with the group! This can be as simple as chips and dip, biscuits, lollies... just something to share. We'll be bringing an eski with ice and some paper plates and recyclable cups so feel free to bring drinks to share, too! (We'll also bring a bag for rubbish)
The Details:
Date: Saturday, 31st of October
Time: 1pm
Location: Rundle Park, East Terrace, Adelaide (Look for the people in the shade, possibly singing)
Directions: Walk down Rundle Mall, down Rundle Street and cross East Terrace. The park is across the road between North Terrace/Botanic Road and Rundle Street/Rundle Road.
The kick off will also be the Super-Dooper-Mega-Awesome unveiling of the Top Secret Plan which relies heavily on people attending *hint hint* so make sure to RSVP so we know you're coming.
If you can't attend the kick off but want in on the Top Secret Plan then stay tuned to the forums because we'll be posting the details after the kick off and you'll be able to jump on board then!
There's available parking at several sites. There's parking on the edge of the park itself or there is an Ezi-Park on Union Street and a U Park on the corner of Pulteney/Rundle Street (above Hungry Jacks, left turn in only). There's also a park above Target.
Remember to bring your own blanket or something to sit on if you don't want to sit on the grass. And don't forget to bring hats and sunscreen!
NOTE: We should know the weather a few days before but should the weather be rainy or rain forecast we will probably have to move to a cafe. We'll update as soon as the 4-day forecast is available with final details.
EDIT: The weather forecast for Saturday is 31 so bring your sunnies, hats and sunscreen and other shade implements. We will hopefully have enough shade to keep us all covered!
Don't forget to RSVP for the fun! ;-)

I love that you still have your pet rock!
Lafayette's hat fell off. And then his hair fell off. And well... basically he can't show himself in public anymore.
Clearly I am going to be at the kick off ;)

Grr, I'm pretty sure I'm working that Saturday. :P *sigh* I don't finish till 2:30 and it takes about half an hour to drive from my house to the city, longer if I have to catch a bus. But I would totally come otherwise. We'll see what happens. I *may* be able to swap my shift with the other weekend worker, so there is still hope.

@EmyPink: the kick-offs tend to go for a few hours, so even if you came for the last hour or so, it would still give you time to mingle and have some fun!

I have to work, so I won't be there, sorry.
(And yes Stina, I ended up asking for the day off and got told a big fat NO because I have the entire week before off on holidays :( and have also asked for too many days off in November thanks to weddings and birthdays and exams. Bleh.)

Fruitloop and I will also not be attending. I have work, and we are supposed to be moving that weekend as well. Not to mention the travel time (I'm sorry but a half hour doesn't compare with the time it takes to get from my house to the city).

There will certainly be some forum action that night once everyone has returned to their homes so you'll only miss the face-to-face stuff. Have some munchies and grab your laptop. ;)

I'll be there from about 2:30pm til 3:50pm. Coming late from a Capoeira class, then leaving early to go to a Batucada rehearsal (Brazilian Drumming). However, I may get there earlier than 2:30pm if I can get a lift most of the way there on the back of a friend's motorbike...
Anyway, see you all there :)

I can't even do that I'm afraid, I'll be on nightshift. I'll actually miss the first seven hours of writing time before I'm even allowed to go home. Fruitloop on the other hand, in her employmentless state, can probably be online to say hi to people.
