Yes, there WILL be a kickoff party! **dons party hat, even tho there's no emoticon for that**
It will be at Panera on U.S. 92 again this year, on Friday night, the 30th of this month (that's
- October, for those of you that have been sequestered in a dark room for weeks, fearing the onset of NaNoWriMo.)
Will you join us? We'll be in the rear of the place, as usual, so as not to startle the "normal people" and plan to begin around 6:30. We'll socialize, lament our lack of ideas or maybe brag about previous wins, and generally keep it very friendly. We just want to meet up with old friends and new, get your names on a list of sorts, and get geared up for the madness to begin two days later. Write-ins will be decided upon at that time, if not before.
Okay, ONE MORE TIME:
Panera Breads on U.S. 92 (International Speedway Blvd)
Friday, October 30th
6:30 - ???
Bring your 'game face' (and your laptops, if you wish) and plan to have a good time.
See you there!
~Bruce

Oh, Bruce!!! He threw you under the bus!!! (I'll stay behind the scenes, lolol)
I think this should be our anthem: -) -- From Bob Eckstein at http://open.salon.com/topics/books :
First Novel Dance
(sung to the tune of Safety Dance)
You can write if you want to, and leave all your fears behind
Cause fears are excuses, everyone abuses
Like darts inside your mind
I say, we can blog what we want to, the start of your new book
Who knows who will read it, someone may need it
a good rep could take a look
We can freelance!
I say, write a book you want to, anyone on Open Salon
Whether you’re Floyd Eliot, or the village idiot
How do I make a cute emoticon?
Say, we can write if you want to, if you don’t nobody will
If you can’t read, but have four months
Like Sarah Palin who is an imbecile
Reprinted twice, movie rights–somebody get me the Coast
First novel advice, dated insights–they’re dishing it from post to post
First Novel Dance, First Novel Dance, everyone take the chance,
First Novel Dance, First Novel Dance, ignore the OS rants
We can write if we want to, we've got all your life and mine
Brush off the stumbles, that’s the way the cookie crumbles
Everything'll work out fine
Even with no advance, we can dance, we can leave your friends behind
Cause if your friends don't dream and if they don't dream
Well, they're are no friends of mine
First Novel Dance, First Novel Dance, just ignore the OS rants
First Novel Dance, First Novel Dance, why not take the chance?

I like the adaptation, but I ain't singin', and I ain't dancin'! I missed my chance at "American Idol" before they even invented it. :-(
And don't worry: there's plenty of room under that bus. Remember, many hands make light work! (oh, wait ... that sounded like something left over from last year's ML Guide to Life ... of which I don't remember a line. Not a single line. Honest!)

Welcome back, Joyce! Good to see you'll be with us, even if not for the kickoff.
Just to remind everybody, make sure to join us Friday night at the ISB Panera. It goes off at 6:30 PM. Be sure to stop by and introduce yourself if we haven't met you, or renew old friendships if you're a past participant. We'll be at the back of the restaurant, and there will be some paper 'tents' on the tables that say NaNoWriMo. Look for smiling faces and listen for "writer-speak!"

It was great to see a few familiar faces and a few new ones last night! It was great to meet everyone! I was priding myself on the fact I still remembered everyone's name, and I blanked out on a couple.... *sigh* Oh well, I remember faces well. Maybe Megan can help me remember.
Good luck, everyone! I won't be able to put in a good start tonight since I've got church in the morning. *pout* But I'll make up for it by writing extra on Sunday when I get home. The tattooed bikers are really nagging at me to tell their story!

Yayz! It was great to see the oldies and newbies both last night, especially, for me, old mod CA Bridges since the last we were paying attention he'd been headed out to the Writer's Strike in LA- great pics!
I guess I'll be asking newbie Patty for story twists and boating terms, Dellani for publishing info, newbie Terry for courage, Megan for cough drops, Bruce for room on the power strip and car repair tips, Taz for logic and computer help and CA for inspiration and media info. And then there's absent Joyce, good for sanity checks and troubled characters :-) Oh, and the spouses! I'd go to Patty's for money matters, and Bruce's for illustrations and art technique (and those hershey kiss mice to snack on....please?). Taz's other half is sure to make an appearance at a write-in or two as well. If I need insightful wit, she's it :-) Did I forget any one? If anyone needs to strike passive verbs (I see others better than my own) or know something horsey-related, come to me, lolol. Research! It's all about the research!!!
Thanks, Bruce Deuce and Taz for hosting the kick-off :-)

And it was great.
Again, welcome to the newbies, and hi to the oldies. And to all those who couldn't make it to the kick-off party, you were missed.
Oh, BTW
START WRITING!!

We would love to host a group. We are on the corner of Beville and Clyde Morris. We have a small free conference room available by reserv or walk in. Please let me know if this is the right place to contact someone for that.
Thanks,
