So, yeah... I'm not sure what genre to put my story under... any help? Here's the synopsis:

Quote:
In a future where gaming and virtual reality have become honed into a perfect combination, a girl's parents are on the verge of divorce, arguing constantly, abusing each other verbally and physically, and sometimes sixteen-year-old Angel gets caught in the middle. She escapes the woes of life, delves into a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), and begins to lose touch with her own reality. There she has friends, good friends, who listen to her. She has a loving boyfriend, who is always there for her. However, when her friends begin to quit the game and her boyfriend mysteriously stops logging in, how does she cope?

I would place it in science fiction, since true sci-fi speculates not only on the technological issues, but the social issues surrounding them as well. Or if that doesn't feel right to you, maybe just general fiction?

That's kind of what I thought. I had asked one of my friends and he said the same thing. I was just iffy cause I've never written sci-fi (I associate it with like, all those old shows).

Thanks a lot~ ^-^

I was thinking alternative folk...
But in all seriousness, Renren, you're pretty squarely in soft sci-fi, maybe bleeding a bit over into mainstream speculative fiction depending on how you work it out in text. Sci-fi is a very expansive genre, and you're going to to be very focused on the game then, yes, it is in fact sci-fi.

Yeah. I've decided I'm going to actually do nano this year after 'trying' the past two years.
After finding Statesboro didn't have a Region I just went to Augusta and then I saw a Renren.
And then I saw you were writing scifi.
And then I was like "My god; I'm even more attracted to that girl now."
And then I was like "Well I just typed way to much information."
And... now I'm gonna stop typing.

Ahaha xD I seem to have that effect on guys. My boyfriend had a similar reaction when he found out I play Blizzard games (Starcraft/Diablo). He could hardly believe it!

There are such things as girls on the internet! T_T
