I don't have anything against the youngins, but I was wondering if there were any 40 or 50 year old NaNo'ers out there that might go to some write-ins?

I would not say older...I would say "experienced" LOL I learned about this program through another website and I was pumped. Never attempted anything of this sort.. but I think it will not only challenge my ability but my creativilty. I am happy to see Springfield in the regions, for me it will add to my competitive nature.

Hello,
Yeah, I'm a 'geezer' - 55 in ancient terms. I will be at the opening meeting, hopefully, but likely not at the write-ins, unless I have some kind of laptop to bring with me. I think it would be great fun, but I'm not great with hand writing and do my best writing when alone. But, I'll still look into it if I can.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only 'mature, more experienced' person doing this. I was beginning to think I was the only one. By the way, I'm 54.

Greetings. I'm a first timer at this and I'd say I'm in the mature realm, at least age-wise. If I lived nearer to Springfield I'd be tempted to join in, but I'm beyond Ava (1.5 hours of driving, not writing each way).
It does seem that some kind of contact/support would be helpful in this challenge.
Open to suggestions.

I'm 44 and 3/4 ... First time I've ever tried this. Looking forward to some interaction with others crazy enough to try it. Don't think I'll try for the late night gathering, but the first day write in sounds like a nice way to kick it off.

If you go to a write in I pretty much guarantee you will make up the writing, especially if you stay a while. I feel like I really need a jump start this year so I will probably go to at least the first write in this Sunday. Not the midnight one though. Just too dang old for that nonsense!!

Thanks for the response Sereana. You've done this twice before, so I guess you know what its like to be writing along with many others. I do pretty well (well, with this challenge to write) so far. So I think that I'll see what happens on my own first.
May I ask? Are you working on having your other novels and writings published? I wonder what happens to all the novels which get written these Novembers.

Hello DIane,
Great title on your 2007 novel, something I can relate to . Your list of wins is impressive. Enjoy!

I'm in Joplin and not sure about getting to any write-ins at this point but interested to see what's going on. I need a jump start and just now signed up. Excited to see what happens.

Sheesh! Sorry about the stutter :). Wonder if that means I'll be able to write three times as many words each day!

I'm a Geezette! LOL 58-year-old Springfield resident who has the nerve (or is insane enough) to try writing a novel in a month. My first name is Mindy. Let's do some mean writing from now until November 30th.

I would love to write a publishable novel. I've had a short story published online. An article a long time ago in Springfield Magazine, and a poem in Grit. That's it. I may die never knowing my dream of being a successful novelist, but I keep November trying.

51 here. Glad to join in this year. I've never tried it before but am looking forward to the challenge. I'll be out of the area on business most of the month so won't get to do any of the write ins. Great idea though.... Good luck all ;-)

I'm almost in my 40's, I'm currently 39 years old.
But I have yet to do any write-ins yet.

That's the positive attitude!! Someone has to write the published novels - why not us! That's what I do for one of my career. Out of curiosity, do you attend any of the Springfield writing groups? I live in Joplin but belong to the ORA group in Springfield. I make it a few times a year. Other groups around, too.
Off to see how much I can write this afternoon before a meeting and then more time to write tonight!

There have been a handful of NaNo novels that have been published, and you can see the list here:
http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/faq#node-402661
So it's entirely possible that the novel you write this November, could be the next published NaNo on the list!
