Hey folks,
Looks like we might be ML-less again this year, but I expect we'll have an active group of writers regardless!
If you were here last year, you may remember we had a friendly word count competition between our region and Ft. Lauderdale. It was a very close competition, and the Broward folks came out ahead in the end. But we led for at least a week or so, and in fact on average words per writer, we led for the entire month, and ended up with 3k more per writer!
So I've proposed it again this year, and I think (hope) it will again help motivate some of us in both regions to meet our word count goals.
The two regions are normally pretty evenly populated - at the moment we're both showing twenty-something active members (meaning we've logged in already this year). Note that the "author search" is not accurate at this point - at least as far as the number of writers in a particular home region - but the tech forum says they're investigating the issue.
Anyway, who's up for the challenge? When we get close to November 1st, I'll start a new topic with the "region war" widget so we can keep track of our progress and theirs. Hope everyone's ready for a fun and busy month of writing!
Chris

okay, What is ML stand for?
----------Any one from the Palm Beachs you can write me directly. We'll beat Broward this year for sure. How many of you are in?
Let me know. For the record I'm in Lake Worth, Florida anxiously awaiting the start of NANOWRIMO. I have a novel in my head for almost a lifetime now and am finally planning to put it down on paper.

Hi Pirate Queen,
ML stands for "Municipal Liaison", and it's someone who organizes things for the region, like planning where and when people are getting together to write. Unfortunately I don't have time for any of that, but of course anyone is free to plan their own "write-ins". I never make it out of the house for those, but I'll be checking in here on the forums whenever I'm not writing. Glad you're looking forward to it, I am too!

Here in West Palm Beach, waiting eagerly for November! :D I'm a Rebel this year, and tacking on 50,000 new words to a previous Part 1. Which, in my view, is still honest. Like writing book number two, y'know?
Last year I wanted to attend some write-ins, but wasn't old enough to. This year I'll be 17, which should finally be old enough to stay out "late" - i.e. after dark, since I ride my bike everywhere and my parents don't want me to get smashed by unwary drivers...
Also, since Barnes & Noble now has free wifi, I'm volunteering the B&N in CityPlace. It's pretty much the only place I can reach by bike. Barring that, there's a Panera Bread there too.

I usually don't do the group thing. I need absolute aloneness to do my writing. Plus I put on my soundtrack and just get totally into it. I too am anxious to get started.
----------How many people here have read Chris's book "No Plot ? No Problem!"? Interesting right?

First post - duh! Obvious by the little signs to the left of the comments.
I'm working on my entry - not sure I should call it a novel yet - we'll see.
I would like to get together with some other writers over the next couple of months. I've noticed that quite a few published authors give credit to their writing groups for providing inspiration, encouragement and editing critiques. I think that all participants gain by working together at times while attempting to create our artistic visions, but agree that at other times in the process we need solitude.

We were so close last year, I know this year we'll be able to pull off an upset! Also, despite our lack of an ML, I definitely think we should try to have a few meet-ups scattered around the county. We had a few last year (regretfully, I was still immobilized from an injury, so I couldn't attend), and I think we should start working on a schedule for this November soon.
