This year, instead of repeatedly imploring already broke people to donate money to NaNoWrimo's excellent cause, I'm going to try a different approach: a contest.

The Albany-Corvallis Wrimo who raises or donates the most for NaNoWrimo by Nov. 30, 2009 (you'll have to have a receipt with the amount in hand by our celebration party on Dec. 3) will win one of the brand-new NaNoWrimo hoodies! I have one "unisex" medium-size hoodie for the contest. If for some reason that size is wildly wrong for the winner I'll work to exchange it for a better size for you.

Here's the sponsorship page where you can read about getting sponsors and having their donations credited to you. I'm mentioning it this early so you have time to approach people and discuss it before Nov. 1 hits. If you have a different idea to raise money feel free to discuss it with me.

Bonus: sponsorship gives you extra motivation for getting your daily word count done!

Let's teach some young minds proper grammar and how to make some seriously awesome stories. Bring on the cowboys and robots!
