Right. This is how things stand at the moment.

Due to the last Saturday of the month being Halloween and some of us are already triple booked for that day, I suggest we meet on Sunday, 1 November 2009 for the Kick-Off. A few hours out of your afternoon to meet your fellow NaNos won't affect your word count for the day.

We just need to settle on a place to meet, so I can go arrange it with management. I suggest Mugg & Bean. Bottomless coffee FTW!

EDIT:

Check this thread for directions, maps & GPS co-ordinates.

I'm basically going along with the guy who offered to scratch your tummy. He's the driver.

Mugg & Bean is a good idea... usually fun places to meet.

Location... I'd go for Rosebank as first choice, followed by Cresta.

Sunday is good, but 12.30 might be a tad difficult... is it okay to come a little late?

Heyla

12:30 was only a guideline - 14:00 works just as well.

It has been pointed out to me that Rosebank on a Sunday will be a bit of a problem regarding parking (if you don't know where to go) with the market there.

Rosebank on Sunday shouldn't be a HUUUGE mission - I just park at the Firs. It's normally much quieter there.

I only finish dance at 12:15, so i may run late - how long are you guys planning on meeting for?

Rosebank or Parkhurst would be ideal for me! Either time works - 2ish would be a bit better, though.

(yes i'm posting this again, so bite me)

Just a very loud SQUEEEE from a happy new nano writer who has no transportation(embarrasing, I know) and has managed to squeeze a lift from her father for the even on Saturday the 21st. Considering how stingy they are with the lifts, I consider that an accomplishment, and simply CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU ALL!

On another note, Rosebank and the times are great :)

That is all.

YAY! Glad to know you'll be there. If you need lifts for any of the other meet-ups just shout, I'm sure we can make a plan. Send me a NaNo mail and I'll see what I can arrange.

Sounds good. It's going to be great to meet the Jo'burg Nano crowd, having had a most excellent Nano crowd in the EsCape last year.

Bring it on!

That's sweet and all, but I'm still eating your Brownie when we invade Grahamstown.

Okay, so it's definitely Rosebank? (Sorry, calendar thingy won't open or load. Blame Telkom).

Sounds good. I hope to be there, barring any unforeseen disasters.

Anyone else having trouble reining their characters in till the start?

Brabruski will be whipping Tygerkatt's bum this year ... it would appear D7's Spanking Machine is still very much on the props list!

Sigh- I look at the scheduled dates and can't make any of them- every second Sunday ends up coinciding with when I have the kids with me; and being a good Jewish boy means I cannot come on Saturdays. Ah well, enjoy the meets

Dude, it's easy to swap them around and make the Sundays the ones you can make. There were reasons why I alternated Saturdays and Sundays. Speak and I'll see what I can do.

Heh, I'm a daft defeatist- just gotta love it! (Hmm, does that mean I have to find a way out of things Forest Gump style? :D )

Well- I ahve the kids every second weekend- so that means in November the weekends of 1, 15 and 29 November. The other two (8 and 22 November) are free

Remember every silver lining has a dark cloud :)

If you want you can bring the kids along to the kick-off if you want, we're not scary (much).

Will be good to see you.

I can't see why we can't have write-ins and things at a Kiddie Friendly establishment.

Who knows, we might inspire them to become novelists.

*sigh*
My first year of doing this and I cannot make any of the meets. I am in Hiedelberg so it makes it difficult trying to get into JHB. Might try to make a plan though as I would really love to meet you all:) Is this as lunatic as it seems?

A nice, kid-friendly place is Ginkgo, in Parkview. I haven't eaten there since it was redone (it used to be Greenlands), but the food looks good, and they're bound to do tea and coffee and smoothies and things. It's a health-food type place, so it's probably pretty expensive, but it's nice and spacious inside and there's a jungle gym in the garden which can be seen from the window, so the kids won't be out of sight. I checked for plug points when I was there earlier putting up NaNo posters, and there seem to be a few, so laptop users should be fine.

They're open until 4.30pm on Sat and Sun.

What about Zenatude - it's pretty fab venu, and chilled.

It's in Rivonia, which is central I think.

The mad blindy from Midrand might have to take you up on the offer for wheels. Unfortunately, noone has yet invented a speaking car, so I'm unable to drive, (disappointed sigh). However, luckily some clever person thought of screen readers, so at least I can write. (giggle).

For a list of other things I can do, feel free to contact me off list, hehehe!
