There's talk in the Maine forum about a statewide word war between Maine and Vermont. I had no hand in organizing this, so if anyone wants to step in with more information, please do; I am merely in both forums because Maine's my true home (I'm in Vermont for school, so I'm writing for this lovely state).

Now, Maine has about 200 people signed up more than Vermont does, so what say we show them what Vermonters are made of and beat them, regardless!

Everybody wins when regions compete!

(Sorry to hijack your title, ArOhBeWyEn, but your post was so good, I didn't want to start another whole thread around it!)

So - yesh! Word Wars! I've been talking with th' MLs from Maine and New Hampshire, and it looks like we have interest from both states to do a Three Way Word War this year!
In years past, we've warred with New Hampshire and put up quite a fight; I'd love to help represent Vermont in a NNEWOTWWANAFBA (Northern New England War Of Th' Words Which Actually Needs A Far Better Acronym)!

For those who've not done it before, here's what you'll need to do, if you are interested:

Sign up in this thread.
Mail me your wordcount at th' end of each week.
ME & NH & VT will then compare words written per region per week and words written per warrior per week.
We've really rawked in in years past and, like ArOhBeWyEn said, let's show 'em all what Vermonters are made of this year! (Answer: not icecream.) (Ok, mostly not icecream.)

Sneaky Sneaky, State you vermonter's are. Must be all the maple syrup you consume! just coming out to see the challengers, and I find a turncoat amongst you *wink wink * ( no hard feelings intended). I didn't know it was going to be a three way challenge! Or has NH not answered the call?

{{{{hugs}}}} for our Vermont and New Hampshire challengers. I'm on the Maine side - just wanted to stop by and wish you guys good luck, and let you know I am doing my usual aim at 250k once again, in case any of you guys wanted to prepare your goals with that in mind ;) My true goal is 75k, but, when did I ever stop there before? LOL! Good luck all! Look forward to see you guys around during November! {{{{hugs}}}}

He Secura - Here's the deal with Word Wars:

Every year Vermont engages in a friendly competition with one or more New England states - this year it is Maine and New Hampshire - called Word Wars. We compete for glory in categories like "most words per word warrior" and "highest percentage of words per region." It's just another fun way to fold some healthy competition/motivation into the Nano experience. It's totally voluntary and unless you explicitly state that you'd like to play, you will not be entered as part of it. Here's what you need to do if'n you're interested:

1.) Sign up in this thread. (a simple "I'm in" reply to the thread is all that is required. Trash talk is gravy ;-)
2.) Mail Stregoica your wordcount at the end of each week. (a little clarity on what constitutes the end of the week here is needed, I know, but I'm guessing Sunday since nano starts conveniently on a Sunday this year)
3.) Weekly updates will be posted once the maths are crunched!

We hope you'll participate, it's fun!

ATTENTION: Stregoica and Celesthiel, could one of you give us a little reminder near the end of each week until we get back in the swing of things? (I know, one more thing to add to your "To Do List," right? Aren't you glad you volunteered to be MLs this year? *S*

*****Updated Info!*****

Great to see so many enthusiastic Word Warriors signing up. Woohoo!
Here's th' aforementioned updated info:

1) Anyone who is still interested in signing up for th' Three Way Word War between Maine, New Hampshire and Plucky, Butt-kickin' Vermont should do so in this forum NO LATER THAN Thursday, November 5. (A simple "I'm in!" post will do, but feel free to be as verbose or trash talkin' as you wish.) =;)

2) Th' Word War will be a three way war between th' states; we will count both Total State Words Written as well as Total Words Written Per Warrior. I dunno what we'll do if'n we win - we certainly get amazing bragging rights, if so - but there will fer shure be pie. Mmmmm. Pie.

3) Please submit your word counts to me (email or Nanomail) by midnight on each Monday of November (9,16,23, 30). If I am not too flipped out on caffeine, I will try to check people's wordcounts who forget to send 'em out, but I can't promise nuthin'.

4) I'll send out some exhorting posts before th' weekends. We can all use a little exhortation in our writin' lives, Word Warriors or no.

Still plotless, yet capable of churning out verbiage about absolutely nothing in particular,
---Stregoica
