Last call for suggestions on the party date, time and location. The current front runner is Casola's Pizza at 2437 SW 17th Ave, which is just off US-1 near I-95 and is near a Metrorail stop. I'm thinking either Saturday the 24th or Sunday the 25th for either lunch or dinner. Questions? Comments? Alternate suggestions? Please keep in mind that we're trying to find a place that everyone from Aventura to Homestead can reach if possible (tough, I know).

Sunday the 25th at Casola's is good for me.

Well, Casola's is like 5 minutes away from me, and they have ample parking so that's good. Having said that, I can't remember their food ever tasting good if I was sober. No offense to anyone. If that's the majority rule, it's fine with me.
There's also Miracle Mile? The trolley which runs from the metrorail and goes through Miracle Mile is free, and parking in some of the garages is free on Sundays. There's California Pizza Kitchen, Einstein Bagel, Fritz and Franz (Oktoberfest, lol), Books and Books, Pasha's... there's a lot (http://www.shopcoralgables.com/channels.cfm?channelcat=2)
sorry if I'm being a pain in the b***. I'll go to Casola's no more whining, promise.

I've only ever had their pizza and that was fine, but now that you mention it I do tend to go late at night... ;-)
I was avoiding Coral Gables mostly because of the parking, but if it's free on Sundays in some places, that takes care of that problem. There's actually a great coffee shop near Fritz and Franz that lets you pick your beans and grinds them on the spot, but it's not very big. One thing about the Gables is how tiny some places are, which makes them not very conducive to group meetings.
Books and Books has the outdoor area, but during the day that would be really hot. I'm leaning toward Einstein because it's not too expensive, which knocks out a lot of other places there.
I'll try to find out which parking areas are free and see what's right around them. Thanks so much for the tip!

Hey, how about the Starbucks on US-1 between Riviera and Le Jeune? It's pretty big and has plenty of seating and parking, as I recall.

The 25th at 2 is fine with me! I have a rehearsal at 12, but should be able to get out in plenty of time to make it. May I bring my daughter along? She's 13 and hubby will be out of town that weekend. I'm trying to nudge her and a friend into trying the Young Writers Program. Maybe I'll bring the friend as well?

That would be lovely! The more, the merrier. How do you feel about that Starbucks? Not the one on Miracle Mile, the one on US-1.

No, it's the one that used to be Texas Taco Factory down by Merrick Park.

I'm only moderately familiar with the area since I'm in North Miami, so I'll go with the majority votes. Starbucks in general is fine though.

I think I can make it. Casola's sounds better than Starbucks, but I'm not picky. I'm also coming from North Miami by bus/train, and the main thing for me is not having to walk far.

I'm fine with the Starbucks but here's no metrorail stop anywhere near it for those who are coming by metrorail. There's a stop right near the Starbucks by Moon Tai, but that place is always packed and has limited parking spaces.
Casola's is around a 0.7 mile walk from the Vizcaya metrorail stop. It has a lot of free parking. Miami's Best Pizza is around 0.6 walk from a metrorail stop in front of University of Miami. There's not a lot of parking for them, but there's some parking spaces, and meters all over the place. It's also pretty big inside.
Just a few ideas and factor to consider. I googled the mile thing.

I thought the Douglas Road stop was close to that Starbucks... I'll Google that distance unless someone wants to do it for me. I'm actually in Boston for a wedding so my Internet capabilities are limited. I'm leaning against any place with bad parking even though I do like the Starbucks by Moon. We could even meet at the UM food court if they're open on weekends. Anyone know?

Starbucks sounds like a great place to meet up! However, could you clarify which one for me? I want to try begging my parents to see if they'd take me at least for a little while. Although, I doubt they'll say yes it's always worth a try and I really want to get to know you all.

Okay, so after some checking, the distance between the Metrorail stations and the two front runners (Casola's and Starbucks) is exactly the same. Since people seem down for either one, I'm going to go with Casola's because it has more seating and is closer to I-95 for people coming from the north. I'll send out an email with all the pertinent information.

I'm aiming to have table tents of some kind, and I'll be wearing a NaNo shirt. Probably not the ML shirt, which is an appalling color as much as it stands out from the crowd. Either the brown one or the light blue one.

Cool. I'll wear my brand new, except I've already worn it a couple of times, cranberry noveling machine shirt.
