I know there was one scheduled before the forum wipe for October 19th, I believe, but I managed to completely lose the paper where I wrote the details. Does anyone happen to still have them on hand?

West Sidies Meet & Greet...Reminder

Back in September some West Side folks expressed interest in having a casual meet and greet NaNoWriMo kick-off. The intent is to meet other West Valley WriMos and kick off our month of madness.

Details: October 19th at 6:30 ish (if you are coming after work and will be a bit late no big deal - just come). Starbucks at 99th and Camelback. 9925 West Camelback Rd.

Bring some writing paper if you like. We can do some fun writing to warm up our writer's minds. Experienced NaNos can share their Month of Madness tales with us Newbies or even give a readings from past NaNo Novels. If you have favorite books on plotting or other writerly crafts and would like to share the author/title info that would be great too. Basically this is a casual group of soon to be friends sharing our writing interests.

See Ya There!

I'll be there! :) My momma should be coming, too, and if not, I'll be bringing my older sister. I might bring a book a friend bought me as a gift, too. It's got great exercises. See you all there!

Oh I so want to be there, but I have a meeting that night. Hopefully we can do a little West Valley meet up during November.

Last year , Bookmans on 19th and Northern was available every Thursday night for people to come and type. Is there any way we could do that again? That would be a good way to meet up.

I'm excited for the '09 Nano year!

My mom and I might try to make it. I've got a math class until 6:30 and it's on Thomas and 19th ave, so we would be late for sure x.x But it would be fun to meet other people this year!

Tonight is the night!

Starbucks at 99th and Camelback around 6:30 ish (or whenever you can there).

Why?? To meet other local West Valley / West Side WriMos and kick-off our month of writing madness.

We might decide to do some fun writing exercises so if you want to participate bring paper and pen. Also, if you have anything you would like to share; a list of favorite books on the craft, a past-years NaNo novel from which to give a reading, a favorite writing prompt or website...bring it with you.

See ya there-

I just want to say that the meet-up was awesome, and that I'm glad I got to meet everyone who came! We'll have to do it again.

Agreed, the meet-up went great! :) We've gotta organize more of those, what a fun group.

So I NaNoMailed the list of West Side writers to everyone in my handy-dandy notebook, which went by without a hitch... 'cept for the fact that I can't find Miss Nikki by her handle-- "nickalodeon"-- for the life of me. Pardon me while I have a conniption for failing at the humble duties entrusted upon me. >.<

Likewise, I can't find Miss Janice-- "jprice61355"-- either, so will those two lovely women please speak up and tell me where I've gone afoul with their usernames?

Other then that, everything seems to be in order, but like I said in the email, tell me if I've gone wrong with anything else! Please and thanksies!

Sorry about that. Apparantly my handle is nickalodeon26, I should have checked before the meeting.
Thanks for stepping up and doing that for us.
Thank you,
Nikki

I've missed the previous meet up and life has been so crazy I've forgotten how fast this coming up but I WOULD love to be at the next meetup.

Just as a heads up there's a 24 hour IHOP just south of the I-10 on Dysart if you live in the Avondale/Litchfield Park/Goodyear area. That'll be my late night hangout :)

To let you all know, The Barnes and Nobles in the Palm Valley Pavillions is a great place to NANOWRIMO at. They are actually happy to see people coming in to stay a while and I've been going there for the past two years and usually sit there for hours. Buy a coffee and write for hours---its a great place to meet and write. Thought I'd throw it out there for you all.

I missed the West Valley Meet-up, but it sounds like a great time!

Is anyone interested in getting together for a "Weekly West Side Write-In" once November starts? This may be in the works already, but I'm a little late to the game and trying to catch up on forum posts.

Thanks!
Olivia

I e-mailed NaNo headquarters regarding starting a separate West Valley region; they said that we couldn't do it until next year, so if you guys are still interested let's keep it in mind come next September, when it's time to apply to be MLs!

Does anyone want to meet up on Oct 31st or Nov 1st? I know that not everybody can is up for or can do a midnight on Oct 31/Nov 1. The Barnes and Noble at Palm Valley is great and less crowded in the morning than IHOP.

I know that there's a Phx meet up scheduled for the launch, but I'm really not up for making that long of a drive that late/early.

Any takers for either a midnight meetup or a Sunday morning/afternoon?

I dont think we should step on the Phoenix ML's toes here. Lets plan our West Side meetups around the Phoenix events.

Has anyone even heard from our ML lately? I have emailed her, NaNo mailed her, and I've gotten absolutely NO response.

She hasn't responded to me, either. However, one of the events on the calendar (the movie night) has changed in the past 24/48 hours, so she seems to still be alive. :-)

Ok, now the movie event has been removed from the calendar completely. :-|

I'm definitely looking forward to some sort of post by rozeecheeks, because this is getting confusing.

Its possible that she is sick. A few weeks ago I had that nasty bug thats going around and I almost never get sick. Well for three days I was laid out! I couldn't work or anything. I literally spend most of those 3 days in bed.

I assume you all got the e-mail from rozeecheeks, but just in case:

The movie night has been cancelled due to a scheduling conflict. Which would imply that she's still alive.

Also, I agree, we shouldn't schedule other events during official Phoenix region meet-ups; it's not very nice. :)
