Anyone from Amarillo participating this year? I'm not close, by any means, being about 70 miles west of y'all, but I'm signed up and ready to go. Anyone just needing someone to break the ice, well -- here, I've done it!
Come on -- you can do it, I KNOW you can ;-)

I plan on trying. The ideas are not as firmly set as they were this time last year, but I'd hate to think I have only one novel in me!

I'm a newbie. I have always wanted to write a novel and this seems like an exciting way to get started.
Good luck everyone.

Hi, pconner. Good luck to you, too.
I've enjoyed myself both years, even though I only finished last year's, about writing without worrying about editing and such...
I hope you have a blast and find the experience rewarding.

This is my third or fourth year, but I have never finished. Hopefully year eleventy will be the magic year! In the meantime, I live in Canyon and would be entirely game for a public NaNoWriMo session or two.

Hi everyone. Just moved from West Virginia to Amarillo to be close to my grandkids. Do you all have some kind of kick off gathering at a local restaurant to start things off? We did in WV, and it was a fun way to know who all was going to be writing "The Great American Novel" in our town.
I didn't make it last year due to work commitments. This year, I plan on doing my 50,000!

I am definitely game this year. I'm on campus at WestTexas A&M and have plenty of Ideas. I hope to recruit a few more for NaNoWriMo this year. Are we going to try to set off a kickoff party?

I can arrange to have a few meet-ups at the WT library. I will be out of town for the kick-off but evenings, weekends and the occasional lunch hour would be good for library use. Snacks, drinks etc are welcome. Does anyone have any suggestions about dates or times?

I'm also on the WT campus, so its great to know there are NaNoers here.
Tuesdays and Thursday in the JBK would be fabulous. The library's also good, but then again the food supply is closer in the JBK. Either way's fine though.

Technically this is my second year, but I just created this account... can't remember what email address I used for my old one. I didn't make it last year.
I'm also on the WT campus so any events here would be awesome!

This is so exciting! Thanks for the ice breaker Julia! I really hope that many of us can get together or at least support each other via the "panhandle forum"...I'm excited, nervous, stressed, relaxed and anxious to get started! This should be an all out fun thing to do!

Am I the only one that doesn't know what I'm going to write about yet?

No, I have no clue either! I figure I'll try to decide on a topic sometime in the next few days so at least I'm working towards something tangible.

Two weeks ago I knew,
Then I didn't.
Maybe tomorrow I'll change my mind.
Then again...
Maybe I won't.
But I'm still aiming to write 50,000 + words in the month of November! (Last year I signed on late, didn't have a clue until I started typing and finished by Nov. 25th. The year before I had a well-thought out plan and puttered out half way through. So, yeah. Don't let "no plan" stop you!)

Hi everyone! It's a little late for me to do an introductory post when we're only 3 hours out from launch, but seeing as there are several Nanoers on the WT campus this year, I can definitely see about meeting up if y'all are still planning on meeting at Legends on Tuesdays/Thursdays.
This year, I have a local friend writing with me and a larger group writing with me online via Twitter, Livejournal, and Dreamwidth. My nano will be a reworking of the one I did last year. Hopefully this time, the story that I meant to tell will be able to show itself, even if it's coming from a completely different angle. :)
I'm glad to see that there are so many people in the Amarillo area participating in Nanowrimo this year! It's wonderful to see such a large grouping of us. I hope that we'll be able to cross the finish line together this year!
Good luck, everyone! ♥

Hi everybody!
Although I'm not new to NaNo (2nd year), I am new to Amarillo. For this year's project, I'm starting the last of a 4 book series revolving around a trio of sisters. I started book 1 in 2007 (before I knew about NaNo), then book 2 was last year's project.
About 6 weeks ago, I decided that book 1 had an untold story inside of it that needed to be told. Since it's a monster (313 pages compared to book 2's 185), the decision was made to split up book 1. I started on the new book 1 the next day, but putting it on the shelf so I can work on book 4 this month.
I'd be all for a get-together! Is there a schedule for that yet?
I hope everyone has a great month and makes it to 50,000!

Thank goodness for the extra hour, eh? I feel like I'm on a ball so far.
So I'm assuming that the pretty much set schedule for meetups in the Canyon area to be at JBK Legends Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. We can expand on that to meet any other time too.
Though I am wondering if there needs to be some sort of 'sign' I guess to let others know that you're part of NaNoWriMo. I'd hate to just walk up to some random person wtih a laptop and freak them out.

I suppose I qualify, but right now I'm drawing a bit of a blank. Between my usual nocturnal habits and the fact that I kicked my caffeine addiction last month, I'm having a little problem getting the ball rolling.
Ah well. I'm determined to get SOMETHING going, at least...
