Hello Wrimos,
I sent out an email several days ago announcing more info on the upcoming Plotting Bash, but I was reminded by a conversation I had recently that not all the Columbia Wrimos have affiliated with the region so might have missed the message.
If you have not yet affiliated, please go to My NaNoWrimo in the gray bar near the top of the screen, and choose My Regions and make you choose United States :: South Carolina :: Columbia.
Okay, without further ado, here are the pertinent details:
What is a Plotting Bash? This is a hands on event designed to help you take the abstract ideas floating around your head and get them down on paper so you can use (and deviated from) them during NaNo. We will cover several great plotting techniques, some basic plot structures, and then be available to help Wrimos think tank their ideas. Plotters and Pantzers welcome.
When: Saturday October 17 From 2pm to 5pm
Where: Panera Bread off Harbison Blvd. (1007 Bower Pkwy, Columbia, SC - (803) 407-5773)
We will be in the back glass conference room.
What else do you need? Not much. I’d bring some money for food, and a notebook would be great, but vikki and I will supply the post-it notes, markers, oversized paper, and anything else you need.
We had fun with this event last year, and I hope all of you will be able to join us this year.
Looking ahead on the horizon for a moment, I’d like to mention that our creativity kicker will be coming up on the 24th of this month, and our annual Kick-Off party will be Halloween! (so go ahead and make a note on your calendars now.)
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. You can email Vikki or me directly, PM us on the NaNo site, or leave a note on the forum. On the main page of the forum you can find the calendar with all the dates of events. We are still working on final details, but we promise to get the event information out as soon as we have it.

I will be there, maybe not exactly on time cause I have to work that day, but I will be in attendance. I hope that's ok!

I most likely won't be in attendance, but only because of my shift that day which ends at 4 and would have me arriving at Panera at about 4:30. However, I've taken a look at the write-ins scheduled for November so far and am excited about the Sunday write-ins at RCPL. I intend to show up for every last one of those, if only to supplement the daily wordcounts with a weekly burst of guided padding. :)

I'm planning on being there, but it's looking like I've got the short end of the stick in the one-car family this weekend. Anyone feel like carpooling?

It went very well =) Around an hour (?) of planning techniques, followed by a long stretch of writerly chatting. If you're familiar with narrative outlining, the snowflake method, the three-act outline and mind-mapping, you didn't miss much information. (If you have questions about any of those, feel free to ask). I can't really give you a summary of the writerly chatting, but I'm sure you'll see a lot of it at the other meetings.

Much fun was had, some candy was eaten, and some plotting was done.
I tried to avoid all plot bunnies, and was mostly successful. :)
