Date: Thursday 29th October (Not April)
Time: Errr, I don't think we discussed that.
Place: The Shakespear.
Ok, so i just got home from the Durham meet up. It was great. We sat in the back room of the pub and talked about books and writing and various other bits and bobs. It was great to see real people, and not just computer screen names :D
Anyway, we decided that we might just be able to squeeze another meeting in before all hell breaks loose and we all lose the will to live (and thats just November 1st) So we came up with the above date, and probs about the same time 2pm ish.
So if you would like to pop along and say Hi and see what everyone else is doing then please do. The more the merrier.

Aw, I wish I didn't have to work so I could come along...
Will any of you be coming along to the weekend meeting in Newcastle? :)

Hi,
Not sure if I can make it to that one or not. It depends on if I can persude my mum to give me the money to get up there. I'm not sure I can navigate the bike into Newcastle, I am hopeless wiht maps and such and the train would be a lot easier.
However, if I can persuade her to give me some money, then I shall be there :D

It was certainly an eventful and educational afternoon and I feel the next meet-up will be even better now we have shaken off the 'formal' introductions (and got our calendars sorted - ahem!). Okay so it was a Freudian slip I was concentrating on another part of my plot. That's my excuse - take it or leave it :p
The same time, 2pm, would be ideal for me.
As the Shakespeare is my 'in-town' local, I had a word with Paddy, the owner and he told me if we wanted to hold regular evening meetings there, Thursday would be a good time. If we decide to have more regular meetings and probably get a permanent group going the offer is worth considering. We could have one power socket available but years of working with musicians has not made me afraid of daisy-chaining up to half a dozen, four socket extension leads to accommodate a large number of possible users.
Count me in.

I'm glad it all went well! My co-ML and I couldn't be there, and can't make the next one either but we might be able to help you out remotely! If you agree a time, we'd be happy to put it on the regional calendar at the top of the forum?
Just send me or ShadowSaine a NaNoMail and we'll sort it out for you!

I posted this to the thread on our forums, but I should have copied it to the Newcastle forums too... Sorry about that.
Anyway, I am able to come to the meeting on the 29th, so I'm looking forward to meeting you
fighting with Newcastle for your souls;-) Seriously though, If there's anything I can do to help people who live in the no-mans-land between oooh, Sedgefield, Spennymoor and Durham - then I'm happy to although I'm not actually aware of any particular delineationbattle linesbetween our regions! What I'm trying to say is that I don't want to step on Newcastle's toes, but I'm happy to help those in County Durham should you wish it.
It would also be fun if both regions participate in the word wars...

Hi,
I won't be able to make it because of work. During November will you be meeting up in the afternoon or the evening? I'd love to come along and meet other people in Durham (especially as I only moved up here this year)
If this group is going to continue meeting up in the afternoon would anyone be interested in organising an evening meet up?

There is a good chance that the Shakespeare Tavern may be used on a regular weekly basis during Thursday's for afternoon (2-5pm) and evening (6pm-closing time) meetings if there are enough people interested in turning up at each session. I have already had a word with the owner and he doesn't seem to mind a group filling his back room on an otherwise 'quiet' day provided the odd drink passes over the counter. I will be having another chat with him soon and will post extra information once we sort things out.

Hey guys,
Are many people going to be around for an evening session at the Shakespeare? I'd love to meet you all (and finally get involved) but I'd be coming from lectures at Newcastle Uni, so I was just wondering how many people are likely to be around. Thanks!

My Co-ML and I will definitely be there, baring an apocalypse (Sorry, too much Buffy as of late xP) So that's at least three, and I imagine at least a few more.

I can stop into the evening providing I have somewhere to crash for the night before going home, what with the no night riding thing I now have to do :( and getting somewhere to sleep shouldnt be an issue cos I have friends in Durham. I shall have a word and see if I can stay over for the night, and is so I am up for spending the afternoon and evening in a pub talking books :) maybe even doing some writing too

I'm sure we'll be having another meet up around the middle of November even if it's just to check on each others sanity, gloat to each other how much we've written or worry about how much we still have to write.
You'll certainly have another chance to meet everybody then :)

perhaps we could even have a write in at the pub, and spend a day/evening sat around writing and motivating each other to get writing. The person with the most/least word counts each hour could buy the drinks. Non-alcoholic of course. We wouldn't want the spider gibberish to come out when we are writing :)

Okay folks I think this is the definitive plan for Thursday...
At least one of us will be at the Shakespeare from 2pm until at least 9pm . I'll be wearing my bright yellow (and I mean bright) sweatshirt from Marie Curie. As if a 6'3" 'eggshell' blonde will be hard to miss. I don't know what Chelle will be wearing, but a silver lappy and a crash helmet might be a big clue.
I have arranged with the owner to use the back room of the Shakespeare to meet. Obviously members of the public may still intrude, but if we get the numbers and talk shop I'm sure they won't stay around too long :)
The pub looks a lot smaller than it is but if you come in the front door, there is short passage way leading through to the back lounge. I have a couple of signs I can stick up to guide you.
If you don't know where the pub is head up from the Market Place towards the Cathedral (Silver Street) almost anyone you ask will be able to direct you. Durham is pretty small so you're never more than about 8 minutes walk from anywhere else in the centre.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
Stan

Not sure what I will be wearing yet, black jeans, I know that much, but there will be no crash helmat. It will be at my friends house. I should, however be there for about 2.30, depending on traffic and buses ect.
Shiny (the laptop) will be with me, tho.

It looks like my Co-ML and I will almost certainly be able to come later this evening, and we can bring table tents (which I have a strange fascination of...) etc.
Anyway. Looking forward to tonight ^^

I'm up... Really, I am. Oh, and I am bringing an extension cord for the back room. So we can have more than one laptop plugged in. And because I already unplugged it, I'm going to need to charge my shiny when I get there.
Still don't know what I will be wearing, but I do know that I will have a pink hat on :)
See you in a couple of hours.

Well, I made it first but I didn't see Chelle making the post... Isn't this fun We've never stopped talking (to each other) since 2pm. As normal Chelle has almost written another complete book since she arrived whilst the rest of us, i.e. me, have still only managed about three sentences.
I have discovered beer is not good for imaginative thought... switching to spirits.

Hey Guys,
Didn't make it to the Thursday thing yesterday because I was in Newcastle watching the legendary Eddie Izzard. I can't come next Thursday either because I'm at a conference (Thinking of creative ways to NaNo and conference at the same time...)
Will you be meeting up every Thursday evening? The rest of them I'd definitely like to come along!
Helen
p.s. Any other WriMos work for or study at Durham Uni? If you fancy having a lunchtime meeting the the CLC or somewhere that might be fun.

Well... errr... I don't think we got round to planning that far ahead :(
We had ML's from both Newcastle and Darlington there last night and after the introductions, the plotting and planning of kick-off parties, write-ins and loads of other events the arranging the next meet-up seems to have been forgotten.
However, tomorrow night will bring most of us together again for a Halloween kick-off party so we are bound to arrange something then.
I suspect there will definitely be meeting around the end of the second week (even if it's just for therapeutic reasons) sometime from late afternoon until early evening.
As the advertising industry says... "Watch this space" or someone may just ignore the expense and start a new thread called "Durham Meet-up, Take 3" :D

A meeting around the 9-12 day mark is a good idea because that's the point where morale takes a severe hit.
I enjoyed seeing you all yesterday and me and Bel will make it up to Durham for the next one.
Less than 30 hours to go now...good luck everyone!
Jo.
P.s. Joculator - I'll get an email to you soon.

doing another meeting in durham sounds good. Tho i may have to be ignorant and ignore everyone at the meeting whilst I write. For some insane reason I now have two projects for NaNo... I'd hate to think what is going on in my mind to make me think that I can actually pull that off.

Hello,
Cambridge Wrimo here. I'm up in Durham as of Sunday for a week, working on the light festival thingummy. I was wondering if there were any meets planned between the 8th and the 16th that I could gatecrash? I've never been to a meet before and the only one I might have been able to make in Cambridge is when I'm in Durham!

There isnt at the moment, however if you can get down toHartlepool at all, then we would love to have you on Tuesday for the afternoon. Its not too far from Durham if you can make it. And we may very well be taking the hartlepool write in to another locatoin once the coffee shop shuts as well.
unfortuantely I dont think I can make it over to Durham next week at all. I am over the week after )17th) but not before then :(
