I’m late. I’m sorry. My bad.
Last year I hosted a Saturday write-in at the Crooked Tree Coffee House. I know Dale is already having a write-in at the same place but on Friday morning. Since I know many of us have a fulltime job and work during the weekdays, would you like a Satruday morning write-in again this year for our area?

I think there was talk of a Saturday afternoon write-in there at 2:00.

I like the idea of the Crooked Tree write-in, because this year I actually have a laptop!

If we're talking St. Charles area, i'd much prefer an early morning Saturday write-in vs afternoon. Too hard to plan around.

I do believe last year’s started at 10am. Any earlier and I just can’t pull myself out of bed. We can go later, like 11 am or even noon, but any later than that and I start having problems with scheduling.

My work schedule can vary a bit from week to week, but generally it falls in the range of 9-1. I don't know how long anyone plans on these lasting - I didn't make it to any last year, but I usually probably wouldn't be able to make it unless it started around 1:30 or 2. Too late?

Who was the person that wanted to host a Saturday 2:00pm write-in. I’ve only heard about it second hand and can’t find the original post. Is that still going on?
For the people who want morning write-ins; How early would you like? I can’t be there at like 8 or 9am. It’s just not possible. Could we shoot for 11am or so?

Hey, I don't think there was a forum post. I believe it came up live at the pre-NaNo planning meeting we had recently at the Crooked Tree. We were there Sat afternoons last year, I think, and we talked a teensy bit about doing it again, but don't know if it will really happen both Sat am AND Sat pm. Maybe everyone will come in the morning instead?

Is it possible for us to just make it a long come-and-go kind of thing? Then some people could come in the morning and some could come in the afternoon based on when they could be there.

I was thinking the same thing. I work every other saturday so I won't be able to make all of them, but there's no reason why it couldn't be a come and go thing. On Saturdays that I have off, I will probably spend as much time as I can in CT. By the way, if you haven't been, The Crooked Tree is a fantastic coffee house. Only thing is that seating and parking is rather limited. You may have to park in the lot behind the coffee house which is off of 6th street (I THINK. I do know it's the first street off First Capitol before crooked tree ). If you have a power strip, bring it!

I like this idea of a long write-in! Are we still talking about the first Saturday in November, then, the 7th?

I think a come and go policy would be great. I expect to be there by 11am, if not a little earlier, and would stay for 2 or 3 hours. If people want to come earlier or stay later then it’s up to them. I can only manage to focus like that for so long!
So, “open-door come as you please” write-in every Saturday at the Crooked Tree Coffee House. There are only 4 Saturdays in November and the first is the 7th.
Does everyone know where the Crooked Tree Coffee House is or do you need directions?

Any chance of someone hosting a write-in that is actually in West County? I would do it myself but I have no idea what is expected or how to organize it. Are there any Nano's out here in Ballwin, Ellisville, Chesterfield area that would like to get together somewhere close...St. Charles is kind of a drive...for me at least.

Barnes & Noble cafe in West County Mall, Tuesday evening. Is that "west county" enough? *grin*
Basically Quantum Tea has her Karate class that evening, and I'll be writing anyhow ... "so why not make the effort to do it in company?" I thought.

What time? I might make it up there, it's about 10 min from my apt. Already have 3 days of write-ins on the calendar, why not add one more? :)

My class is 6-7pm, but you really wouldn't want me at a write in afterwards, I'll go straight home to shower. So sometime between those times would be the start time.

I definitely want to make it out to the crooked tree, its worth the drive from ballwin, even if you only go once or twice. I'm also going to try and make it out to the tuesday night write-ins if my class/work/yoga schedule allows. Can someone post the address of the Crooked Tree so i can put it in my fancy new GPS?

Several people have asked me about this write-in, as in will I be attending, and I just realized they were all asking because I never posted anything here!
I may show up at one or two through the month, but I have just relocated to Columbia. St Louis is still my home region for this year and I am going to make as many things in St Louis as I can, but for now I am only committing to the Kickoff bash, the Dubliner on 11/14, and as many of the Sundays at Bread Co in Clayton as I can make.
Hope to see you all at the Crooked Tree at some point (I'll be checking for Halos :P ).

So I haven't ever made it to a write-in, but I think it would be fun. How would we identify each other at the Crooked Tree? Is there some type of secret handshake or code that I need to know?

I usually set up by the back door because there is an outlet there but will take the middle of the wall if nobody is there. Mostly, we're the ones with the laptops but without the text books! Lol.
Anyway, just ask if you're not sure. I plan to be there sometime between 10 and 11am. It's come and go as you please but I'll probably only last for 3 hours. The Crooked Tree is a great place. So, please make sure and order something while there.

I am still planning the Friday morning write-in, 9:00-11:00, at Crooked Tree. I spoke to the manager and he was happy to have us. I will be there every Friday except the one after Thanksgiving. My sister plans to attend, and I believe there are at least two others.
I'm hard to miss; I'll be the biggest guy with the smallest laptop. Also there are nano stickers on my laptop, and I think that's fairly common.
I might make my way over there some Saturdays, early. I don't know if anyone has spoken to the managment about Saturdays, but especially if I'm buying beverages, I don't know if it matters. They fully expect people to bring laptops and sit a while over coffee.

Oh, they love us NaNo people. I just feel bad when I'm taking up a seat and then don't order anything, even a drink. I've seen it happen.
I wish I could make a Friday morning write-in but I work during the weekdays. It rather looks like we're going to be having a roving write-in some weeknights for St. Peters. It just depends on when someone ends up writing somewhere.
