I have a question...

I spent the entire morning making/editing a banner for my sig, but now that I've chosen to use a banner that is supported by BBCode, it won't show up as anything but a link. :( [I tried the other options but they aren't working either]

Does anyone know how to get a banner from mybannermaker.com to show up as a sig?

Thanks.

There's a nice post about all the new xhtml components of the forums this year: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/3263727

All the stuff about banners is at the very bottom of the post (save the best for last, wot wot?)

Wow... how does one go about making an amazing banner for one's future novel? There are people here who could design advertisements for movies....

You can do one of two things: Beg...or design one yourself

Beg: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/forum/521
Go find a thread where someone has generously offered to make banners or cover art galore, determine if you like how they make their free graphics all pretty, and throw up a post requesting one for yourself. Most of them ask for several categories of specifics (your title, fonts you'd like to use, specific graphics if you have something in mind, a short description of your book, etc.) and they're really decent at picking out stock art for your banner or for a full cover.

Design:
Limits are 30kb, 500w x 100h.
The current favorite automated site is: http://mybannermaker.com/
which is very simple but you have to have a background image first.

and the software: http://www.gimp.org/
which you can use to make a montage of your own.

I made mine using mybannermaker.com - I used an image I'd drawn a couple years ago and then I picked a background color and font. Easiest thing in the world! The most complicated part was that the banners aren't available in xhtml so you have to edit the code a bit but it takes 2 seconds, so not a big deal! [Thanks to Lady Fianyth, that is!!]

Have fun!

Thanks for the links and the info! Now if only I had a title I'd be good to go... :)

Try HTML instead of BB code:

(removing the space between the opening and closing tag)
