"from 5pm until we get sick of each other" haha!
----------I won't be able to make that, since Providence is a bit of a drive for me, especially with my gas guzzler of a car... but hopefully there'll be more a bit closer to me in location and I'll definitely be going, then!

Depending on where you're coming from exactly, you might be able to bus it. The #66 runs between URI and Providence until after 10pm on Sundays. If you have a car, you should be able to make it to a park-and-ride on one of the SoCo routes. Or maybe carpool with other wRImos from your area? There have to be a bunch of folks at URI.
Realistically, it's not possible for us to serve every corner of the state. We've tried it in years past, and it's exhausting, costly, and time-consuming. As much as we regret it, we're forced to stick mostly to this major population centre.
What we hope is that some people will organise local meetups. You can announce these in this forum, and we can post them on the calendar for everyone. If you give us enough notice, and a way to connect, we can move some stickers your way, too! (I just put the order in last night, so it will be a few days yet.)

I like Providence, so baring snow.. egads we had it last night.... I think I might travel up for this one.
I was the CT East ML for a few years, and it was like herding cats. And decided not to ML this year for 2 reasons: 1- my husband died August 1st and I'm still in widow fog and 2- I got an agent.
Although I'm probably the most ancient in the gathering that just means I've been tapping keys a lot longer and I'm always more than willing to share info.
I'll be driving up from Mystic CT. I could grab'/abduct someone along the way who needs a ride. If I can figure out how to work my dh's car by then and be able to flip up the back seat, I could squeeze in two more. (if not you could throw a sleeping bag on the back and snore back and forth.
Looking forward to Nano this year. Trust me.. Nano is a breeze after filling out government paperwork to get spousal benefits.

Oh, yeah, I didn't expect there to be a ton of meetings all over the state, but I remembered last year when we had some in Warwick and another in... Wakefield? I think? So I thought we were gunna do that again, which works well enough for me. Still a little drive, but at least that's a drive I already have to do on occasion anyway haha! Providence is somewhat foreign territory to me.
----------But if we just stick in Providence I'll just have to look for a ride or consider busing it. I definitely want to be a part of it this year since I didn't get to last year (I started with only a week left, and I had gone on a vacation to California starting that weekend, when the meeting was. D'oh!)
I can't wait to actually meet the group this time!

I live in Warwick so if anyone is interested setting some up there or elsewhere that'd be great. Also I'm not going to be attending the kickoff this year since my job has decided I deserve time and a half indefinatly. Instead I'm going to lock the cat and fiance out before and after work that day.

If the 1st was on a weekday and not a Sunday, I would probably be able to stop by for at least an hour. I mean, Wickenden is a bit of a hike from RISD, but I've done it before. But since I don't live on campus I'm in Fall River on weekends and I don't drive, so... I won't be able to join you guys :/

I plan on being a fixture in the Panera on Reservoir in Cranston (across from Garden City). If anyone else is interested in meeting down this-a-ways, I'll get organized and make it a regular day/time. My guess is every Wednesday night or something like that (thinking about my family's schedule). Say, 7PM until they kick me out. Weekends too... let me know what others are interested in and we can figure it out.

I trhink it'd be cool if we had a write-in on a weekday that could kind of go on for most of the day. So that way, those of us in college could come and go as fits our schedule... Just a thought.

I'm looking at Wednesdays for mid-week write-ins, probably starting around 4pm? What would work best for people?
I haven't posted anything formally about this, because I'm still waiting to hear back from Reflections to find out about possible conflicts. I know of one group that meets there Wednesday evenings (every other week, but I don't always know which weeks), but I don't know how big they are, or exactly when they meet. Realistically, Reflections is big enough that two or three groups the size of the typical wRImo groups who've shown up there could be there at once. In the past, we've only had small issues with especially noisy or distracting groups or events (such as the poetry group, who now meet at Blue State Coffee).
Since I haven't heard back yet, I'll probably have to go there in person to discuss it with them. For now, I'd like to *tentatively* suggest Wednesdays.

I might be able to make a Wednesday every once in a while. It depends on my workload. If I have a lot of stuff to do I'll just hang out in studio and work rather than going home after my class. That way, come evening I'll be able to just hop a RIPTA bus on over.
Btw, just curious... Any other RISD wRImos?

Friends, family, loved ones, and innocent curious bystanders are always welcome. All our events are free and open to the public, always. The only stipulation is that during actual write-ins, be respectful of people who are writing. This follows the same treatment you'd give people studying in a cafe, that sort of thing. The Kickoff is usually a party, and normally includes no writing. This year, it happens to be the same day as the start of the writing event, so some people might want to write during the event. Just use your best judgment, don't worry.

Yeah, I'll probably make the kick-off, since this is my third year doing it (and the last two provided my fourth and fifth finished books) but I'm with Bree87 and a few of the others... wouldn't mind one in South County or somewhere on the Island. If nothing else, I'll be burning an hour of writing time driing two and from Providence.
Also, anyone thinking of car-pooling?
