There are going to be official write-ins on Sunday afternoons (excluding the 1st),
Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. These write-ins will be held at Mono and we will have an
area booked for us. I would really appreciate some idea of numbers for who is planning on
go to these so I can let Mono know and i'll put up separate forum posts for each day.
These write-ins give a chance for us to meet, some chat, share ideas and suggestions and
generally help each other reach the magic number.

If you have any general questions or comments on write-ins please reply to this post.

Apologies in advance if The Reply That NaNo Ate turns up anywhere else.

So what I *tried* to say here a minute ago was that I really want to go to the Mono write-ins - they were great last year. However see my comments on the Pre-start party thread for my current situation with Schroedinger's Job - there either is a job for me or there isn't (or both. Or neither) and that's all I know at the moment.

None of which helps you count heads any, but I'll let you know if / when I know any more myself...

Suddenly my empty social calendar looks full, honest it isn't...much.

Sundays are devoted to church/swimming/wedding prep so I'll more than likely never make one of them. Wednesdays are debatable, it depends on wither or not I'm needed at the youth group. Tuesdays I can do, Tuesdays are good... well, I say that now, Tuesdays might be spent doing all the studying I wont mange on the Wednesday.

Um.. this message has been of no real use has it?

Hey.

I'll be at the Wednesday write-ins. I cannot do Tuesday nights as I help at a youth club.

The Sunday afternoon write-ins I'll try to be at but I can't say for sure yet.

Can't promise to be there every week but Tuesdays are the best day for me. Any excuse to go to Mono for cheescake :-)

I can't make it on Sundays, unfortunately. But I should be able to come to Tuesday and Wednesday. =D

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but about how long are we expecting them to last?

No such thing as a stupid question. How long they last for is really up to you but Tuesdays and Wednesdays are booked until pub closing time and from 6.30 and the Sunday ones are booked for until the last person leaves - so simple answer is as long or as short as you like :)

Sadly, I won't be there on the Wednesday ones, at least not until 9:30 or so at the earliest. But I will be there on Tuesdays and Sundays the whole time!

oh gods, here we go again...

Ok, every year I say I'll come (and maybe actually make 2 meetings, never in a row) and every year I fail miserably (I think I didn't break 5k last year). This year I ain't even promising, if it happens, it happens :P

I might go to the pre start meeting...if I got no awesome party going on the 31st, I'll try to make the midnight extravaganza.

I am the same as last year, only hairier.

;)

Like several other members, I'm just about to start a temp job next week and I suspect they may up my hours during November and I don't know what days I'll be working - they'll probably change each week.

I'll try to make the Sunday write-ins or the Wednesday ones, simply because I'm unlikely to be working late on those days. I'm not in a position to make a promise unfortunately.

I'm curious though: are the Tchai Ovna meet ups going to go ahead? If so, what days would those ones be held on?

Hi,

All official meets are being held at Mono. You can ofcourse go to other facilities to write they just wont be actually official if that makes sense.

Hey my evenings have just freed themselves up dramatically since I've gone and messed my ankle up and got a temporary ban on me from sport no running till after xmas and no karate for awhile. This does however mean I'll have more time for NaNoWriMo haha need to try and find a bright side. Would like to try and make a few write ins as its not to far from Partick although Tchai Ovna would be closer haha. Can't make the pre party since I'm throwing my 20th party on 29th and also out on halloween but should hopefully see some of you down mono soon.

Hey everyone, this is my first year doing this, (I found it on a blog post the other day). I've always fancied writing a novel, but never made the time to do it. I've had an idea in my head for a few years, as well as a few abortive attempts to put something on paper. So this seemed like a perfect excuse to try.
I don't expect to hit the 50,000 words, but I'd be happy to get something more than a chapter done.
I could likely make the Wednesday evening write-ins,as Mono's only about 10 mins from my work so I should be able to go directly from work, depending on what time they start. (going home and coming back isn't too difficult either). Tuesdays more difficult but possible, and if I do go I'd probably arrive late.

Hope to see some of you :)

I'm planning to make 1 or 2 of the write-ins per week - most likely Sundays.

Just to introduce myself, my name's Katie and I'm new to NaNoWriMo and Glasgow.
Looking forward to meeting you all and starting the challenge, although I have no idea yet what I'm going to write!

What's the kick off times?

I'm 12-8 the weeks of 2 and 23 Nov. 9-5 on Sun 15.

Will try and fit in around that, job interviews, social panics and mass permitting.

Good question - the Tuesday and Wednesday ones are scheduled to start at 6.30 though i'll likely be there earlier and the Sunday ones from 1.30 though again i'll likely be there a wee bit earlier.

Alas, I won't be able to made Wednesdays because that's my writing class night. During the week is a bit difficult but I'd be up for coming along to the Sunday write ins. A cup of tea, Mono cheesecake and writing buddies sounds rather excellent :) Can't make the pre-launch party but would really like to come along to the Sunday ones. Now I have to remember to write them in my diary :)

Hello all.

I have made two previous attempts at completing NaNoWriMo, neither of which were successful. I have cleared time this year so that I may, finally, get to The End. I expect my resolve will begin to waver after the first few days when my novel pages fill with dubious text, so I intend to head to Mono for some of these official write-ins to grab a morale boost. I have never been to these before but I'm very much looking forward to it.

See you in November.

Drusilla, would you ever be able to make the Tuesday night ones? At least you know they're available if you have a free weekday night and absolutely NEED to be around all the crazy novelists for some reason!

keltoi, definitely come along if you can make it! We might be having a couple of words wars during these, with small prizes, so at the very least you'll get in some good incentive to keep writing! ^_^.

Tuesdays are a maybe for me. My uni timetable is full Monday-Wednesday and Wednesdays are my busiest day. So I like to get to me bed early on Tuesdays (god, that makes me sound so old!). Sundays are safe for me because I can plan my activities without juggling classes, coursework etc.

I think we briefly met last night. You were arriving just as I was leaving to meet the B/F for dinner. But passing ships in the night and all that :)

Hello! I'd definitely like to try and make it to some of these, it sounds fun and I look forward to meeting some of you there. Oh yes, my name's Bronwen, I'm 24, I live right in the city centre and I've actually just finished writing my third novel, which has been giving me a few headaches, so I'm finding this a bit of a refreshing change and basically just want to have fun with it! A bit of a mind vacation with a good productive result at the end, if you like! It's my first time with NaNoWriMo so I really want to get involved and support the cause. Woo! That's all. God I sound enthusiastic...

I'd love to come. Buuuut I've no laptop, and I'm 13. I don't know how much a mother world respond well too when I ask
a)Can I borrow her laptop.
b)Can she possibly maybe not get lost in Glasgow.
c)Can she take her thirteen year old daughter to meet up with strangers. (While I'm sure you're all nice, think of it from a parent's point of view.)

Hi,

We have had teenagers before. What we did last year was encourage the parent to come and see us so she can see we are perfectly sane(?) and not scary people. If you or your mum want to contact myself or Sabrina directly please send us a PM and maybe we can ease some fears.

Zagrebo, are you able to hand write? I didn't have a laptop until my...fifth? fifth NaNo so what I did at the write ins was just bring a pad and paper. It's more painful and you don't write as much as you can probably type, but if you want to come along, maybe try that? We'd love to have you, regardless!

It's in King Square, which is on the east side of King street car park, which is to the east of St Enochs shopping centre.

There are currently four of us sitting in Mono. However, it's busier than normal, and there is a band setting up so we may not stay very long. Band is due to start at half past seven or so we are told.

From the discusion behind the bar this appears to be a regular event.

Depends I guess on your tolerance or otherwise for Jazz whither it's still a suitable place to write.
