Kay so, the forum's already full enough even before I joined it, so I post it here ;]
What are you listening to at present?
Or what kind of songs that help you to catch the ideas?
Just curious here :]

Well, it's mostly Vocaloid songs. But every now and then, Nidji pops up on my playlist. What about you?

Usually nothing.

Songs distract me. I listen to them only if I need to clear my head.

*is weird*

Currently loves Italian radio streaming Lolliradio. Reminds me of vacation :P.
Sometimes I have one or two songs that becomes my theme song for the whole novel. This year is Acquarello by Toquinho.

@clueless_psycho: no, it's not weird ;). I'd listen to songs so I'm not tempted to browse videos :P. But mellow songs annoyed the hell out of me *refuses to hear Indonesian radio streaming :P*

I listen a lot of Yiruma's songs and sometimes Skillet too, but mostly not when I'm writing. Yes, non-instrumental songs distract me too, but Skillet gives me chance to catch the muse :]
Oh! And Final Fantasy's soundtracks are just that fabulous ;]

Senada cinta bersemi diantara kita dengan duckie, saya orangnya mudah teralihkan konsennya. Jadi harusnya pas ngetik ga boleh nyetel lagu (err, tapi masih bisa sih klo nyetel lagu mah), buka game, dan yang paling bikin mupeng - buka web! wakaka.. Itu hal2 yang ngeganggu..

Usually I listen to Dead Can Dance, RPG games music, and the Mission... but those work much better with fantasy genre. Since this year I will try to write a story in VR set in the future... I would welcome some recommendation :P

Currently I'm listening to Boys Like Girls' new album, as well as Sugarcult and Plain White T's, among other things, and I think these three bands will stick around all through November, LoL

@clueless_psycho: No you're not weird, plenty of my friends can't work while listening to music, they also say the exact thing like you, that it distracts them. In fact, I'm the minority among them, haha, because I can't sit still on one spot for too long without some music, hahah..

@janefendy: I love Yiruma too! 'River Flows in You' is my all-time favorite. It's just so beautiful.. What's yours?

What am I listening to? Currently it's my BF's playlist in iTunes. Ambient musics. Susumu Yokota, Air, that kind of stuffs.
If am on my own iTunes, I listen to a lot of thing from classic to punk, from latin to Javanese song, from acoustic to remix cha dut. :)

In the older days, songs that stimulates emotion and ideas are usually something from Radiohead's The Bends and OK Computer albums. Also Coldplay's Parachute album. Now it's quite random. :)

cheers,
m

Kaya' Astrid, gue butuh satu lagu buat jadi theme song naskah gue. Jadi setiap kali denger itu, udah kaya' ngeliat opening songnya sinetron :D en gue bisa ngebayangin gimana kalau naskah itu jadi sebuah drama, film atau apapun.

Tahun ini lagu lamanya Tokio, judulnya Get Your Dreams (2006) . Lagunya sih kesannya ceria banget, jadi cocok dengan nuansa remaja. En kesannya positif banget (padahal tau artinya aja enggak )

Catchy tunes mostly. My friends call them 'zombie' songs because the songs make your brain go numb (helps me concentrate a little bit more). Currently repeating Beat Crusaders' 'Wow I Nee'.

Like clueless_psycho, I'd rather not listen to anything. Silence and loneliness helps me best. Being near friends and other sources of sound distract me and my imagination, because then ideas will pop up sporadically, destroying what I had in mind already.

Here, I can only get that kind of situation when it's night. Therefore NaNoWriMo always takes my sleeping time. T_T

Listening to iTunes radio 80s now, since the characters in book just decided to be obsessed with 80s - it will explained later somehow :P

But it also helps to guide me - since each chapter began with a song title.

I created a playlist Nanowrimo 09, and then I put on iTunes DJ. Everytime a song that suits the mood comes up, I put it under the Nanowrimo playlist and I had been doing this for three nights. Just now I checked all the songs are giving the mellow, somber nuances, all with female vocals.
What does this say?

ahaha... ^_^;
