Hey gang! Here to let you know about the plans for the first of two Southern Illinois Meet-Ups. It's happening Wednesday, October 28th from 5-7 pm at Wise Choice Coffee in Edwardsville. Address is: 1063 S State Route 157 # A, Edwardsville, IL 62025. (It's in the strip mall, in the same block as Bella Milano's and Jimmy Johns. If you need directions, check GoogleMaps or message me, and I'll help you out.)
The Meet-Up is a great way to, well, meet up with fellow like-minded novelists/maniacs in your area. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come, be it early, late, or teleconferenced in. We'll discuss ourselves, our novels, characters, Write-Ins, worries, hopes and whatever else comes up. It's a great way to get hyped up about 11/1, so stop on by!
Can't make it Wednesday? You're in luck, because we're having a SECOND Meet-Up on Thursday, October 29th in Fairview Heights. We're still looking for a venue in Fairview, but as soon as we know, we'll post another message and update the calender, so you'll be sure to see it. Come to one or both Meet-ups!
As always, this information and more can also be found at the SoIL NaNo Calender.
I hope to see you all there!

The SECOND meeting will be in Fairview Heights on October 29th at Borders Books and Music, just off the intersection of I-64 and IL-159. We'll be meeting in the cafe.
The informational meeting will be your first chance to meet many of the other would-be Wrimos whom you'll be writing with, and it's also the best place to ask any questions you might have before you get in the thick of it. Plus, it's a really fun chance to talk about your plans for the novel you'll be writing in the month of November!
If you have any questions, please e-mail Sean J. Jordan (seanjjordan1@gmail.com) or Jenna Stoeber (lostieborden@yahoo.com). Otherwise, we'll see you at either the Edwardsville event on Wednesday the 28th or the Fairview Heights event on October the 29th!

Looking forward to the meet-up tonight!
Authra I tend toward being shy too so I understand. Perhaps NaNoWriMo could be more than just a push to write? At the same time it could give you a push into branching out of your comfort zone and meeting new people? At the end of the month that may be more personally fulfilling than just writing 50k words. If you come tonight I would enjoy meeting you - I am the short guy with the scruffy beard.

It was a treat to meet some of you guys... and learn about your fears. :-) And it was fun to see some of our past Wrimos, too!
Anthony commented to me that he was glad he had the opportunity to learn about slash fiction and furries in the same evening. To which I say: we writers are strange, deranged folks, aren't we? :-)
Now excuse me. I need to go hire a midget clown who will charter us across the ocean and make balloon animals for us...

Hi Sean,
Unfortunately, I'm currently without a car. Mine died on me last week... the mechanic who examined it, proclaimed it "trashed" and wouldn't even quote me a price on fixing it, which didn't surprise me. I'm using Metrobus & Metrolink & a kind new manager to get to work.
So I'll be with you in thought :)

Well, since I love meeting new (and old!) friends, I'm going to the Borders meet-up tonight too! Hope that doesn't seem at all...weird. Haha, but then again, writers always seem to understand the odd and slightly out-of-place :)
Anyone else going tonight that was there last night?

Nice meeting everyone tonight or yesterday depending on how you look at it. Since Borders is a really short drive, I'm sure I'll make it out there one of the days there's a write in, with paper! How do you write using paper again?
