Hello all,
This is your MLs speaking! We will be planning on having a series of write-ins that will rotate through the region (as you can see on the calendar!). We would really love your input on where you want a write-in near you! We'd love to reach out to folks who either can't come to a lot of the write-ins, or would like one in their area. We can't promise to get to everyone, but we'll do our best!
As we get good, concrete suggestions, we will fill out the details in the calendar.
Oh! And please try to suggest not only the area to write-in, but a specific place: a cafe, park, bookstore, restaurant....
Good luck and see you all soon!

The Borders at Victory and Canoga(West Valley). As a matter a fact I am sitting there right now....

How about one of the many Starbucks in West Covina or Covina? I think that the one off the north side of the Barranca exit of the 10 Freeway might be the most accessible for those not from the area, but there are five or six stand-alone Starbucks in the area (not counting those that are in other stores). I personally like the Starbucks on Citrus and College in Covina, but it is a bit on the small side.

I'd like to counterpropose against the West Valley.
I'd like to suggest the Starbucks at the Plant, on Van Nuys Blvd. The Borders at the West Valley is well … VERY FAR WEST. It is possible for people to get there, but I think that having one more centrally to the San Fernando Valley would enable more people to attend, rather than making it inaccessible for people who are reliant on others for transportation. There is no reason that someone who lives in the West Valley won't be able to get to the centre of the valley in the Van Nuys area, but someone who uses public transit won't be able to get that far west on a weekend very easily.

I am not trying to diffuse your plans for The Plant. However I will be at the Borders anyway if anyone wants to join me there.

What I meant -- and I'm sorry, I probably chose crappy, sucky, phrasing -- is that I think that the traveling write in, specifically, when it comes to the valley should be in a more central location.
The Borders out there is great -- but it doesn't strike me as somewhere everyone can get to for a write in that the MLs will be hosting.

I also vote for the Starbucks at the Plant. It's a good location.

Echoing a location near Citrus College, although the only one I know of that's big enough to comfortably host a write-in is the Starbucks in San Dimas on Route 66 and Lone Hill. The patio is massive and they have loads of table space, plus I know the peeps and I'm sure they'd be happy to help us with seating configurations. It's a really nice, relaxed, friendly atmosphere - I go there all the time to study and, this nano, I expect they'd be seeing even MORE of me. :P
The Barns & Noble in West Covina also has a pretty cool set-up as far as the cafe goes, again, mainly on the patio, but I haven't been there in a while. :)

I would guess dancingdolphin means the original one (which I think is the largest) at 2507 Main St.
But I can make it to any of them.

Are there any other Santa Clarita Valley folks out there? Maybe a write-in in the planning for Canyon Country, Newhall, Valencia or Castaic?

Anyone want a write in around Torrance/Redondo Beach? There's plenty of Starbucks, Borders, and Barnes & Nobles to go around. I'm thinking of staying near the Del Amo Fashion Center near Torrance Blvd and Hawthorne Blvd for the huge mall parking lots.

I vote for Torrance/Redondo Beach! I'm not sure how many people actually come to these write-ins, but I'm sure we can find a location. The Borders on Torrance Blvd doesn't get really busy. The Barnes & Noble at Del Amo does. There is also the Catalina Coffee Company, on Catalina in Redondo Beach. I go to a regular writing group there and they will take reservations.

David: Anything around Azusa Pacific University or Citrus College would be great. We've got the club here for WriMos in the area. NaNoMail me if you want to come join us or vice versa. Specifically, I can request that rooms be reserved for us to host on-campus, or there have to be some nice places on Route 66 like that Starbucks fenrisdelapena mentioned.

Bethany: Yes, we've got some cohorts for this craziness within the club but we'd love to join up with other Wrimos in the Azusa area and spread the support. Let us know if you're interested - we plan to make this a regular affair and the more the merrier, so come crash our writing sessions or let us know what you've got planned and we can mesh them.

Torrance/Redondo Beach
The Coffee Bean on Hawthorne Blvd/Fashion Way (I think is cross street - Del Amo Mall) wi-fi
The Coffee Bean on PCH in Redondo Beach - wi-fi
The Coffee Cartel on Catalina Avenue in Redondo -wifi, can sit for hours with one cup of Joe
Barnes & Noble on Hawthorne Blvd in Torrance, it does get crowded but it's got free wifi, as Borders does not.
Oh, I almost forgot Java Man in Hermosa Beach, on Pier Avenue. Pretty nice space.

Howdy,
My writing group has found Groundworks in Hollywood, on the corner of Sunset and Cahuenga, to be a good central location, accessible from areas across Los Angeles. The most convenient parking is at the Arclight, although street parking can be found.
For anyone else who is interested, we're usually there on Saturdays from 12:30 until we decide to leave, although I may be following this traveling write-in this month. =)

How about the Borders in El Segundo, on Sepulveda? It's closest cross-street is Rosecrans. Or the Barnes and Noble on Rosecrans between the 405 and Sepulveda....

I'm in Redondo. That's easy enough for me. I kinda like the B&N near corner of Hawthorne and Torrance Blvd. Or, in the Riviera Village, Coffee Cartel.

I also vote for Redondo Beach/El Segundo/ anywhere in southbay. I don't know the area well, but Coffee Cartel in Redondo Beach sounds good since the atmosphere is relaxed and they have wi fi.

Hey bittermac,
Great to see you excited to get some midweek write-ins, so am I! :) If you don't mind, remember that this thread is for the Travelling Write-Ins my wife and I are planning; normal write-ins should be posted on "The Grand Write-In Thread" to make sure I don't miss it. :)
I'll go ahead and put this on the calendar since I saw it.
Have fun!
