But they're multiplying anyway. I must have stared too long at that green one.

When I started this, I had three possible ideas: Only Child, Of Servitude and Silence, and Kinsman Redeemer. I'd already done some measure of planning on each, and I was fairly confident about the direction they were taking. I knew Only Child would be a trilogy, but I was only concerned with the first book.

Then Kinsman Redeemer decided to be a trilogy, too.

Then I remembered an old plot from '06, and I fell in love with it all over again.

Then my MC's daughter wanted a novella titled Garnet. I don't know why yet.

Then I decided to work on the history of my world for a while. I started writing about a time of political instability, and I was hooked on the idea of sudden extreme changes in rank. Spinner's Inheritance was born.

This morning, the "victim" of my MC's various misdeeds, Kalduin, decided he wanted the story told from his point of view at some point, but that's on the backest of back burners.

Around an hour ago, another plot came to me. It's incredibly hazy right now ("two Only children raised in the same nursery pretend to be twins to avoid the social stigma"), but it's been messing with my head. Now I'm tempted to write that before November, and tackle Only Child and one of the other old ideas for WriMo.

Keep in mind, I've had a two-year dry spell for ideas. I haven't written a damn thing since coming to Columbia. Then out of the blue, I'm wallopped over the head by a baseball-bat-wielding muse with a grudge to settle.

Anyone else suffering similarly?

(In other news, my dogs have learned to push up the toilet lid to drink out of the bowl in the time it took to write this post. x_X I don't understand the attraction.)

I know exactly what happened.

It was not the plot bunnies.

You sat near haricot_vert during the first half of the festivities. As a certified "plot percolator", Vert's brain stores plots and characters and worlds, nurses them to maturity, and then releases them into the wild once they can survive on their own. Muses feed on these plots and characters and worlds.

Since your muse has been starving for two years, I'm thinking she spotted all the delicious ideas drifting up toward the air intake vent and decided to binge.

But she was looking so innocent, just knitting away at that sock...

On the plus side, this gives me justification for my hoard of AlphaSmarts. Bwahaha.

She always looks innocent, but you mustn't believe a bit of it! The socks are just a cover for her nefarious, plotty ways!

And I'm sure I nudged a lonely little plot bunny at you. It looked so sad, all by itself. I see it's already been fruitful and multiplied! :D

I'm going to try to write Consequences (the idea from 5pm tonight) before November. It'll be a nice warm-up, and it might quell the "And then! And then!" that my muse seems to be throwing at me right now. I had a second plotstrike in which I realized that the MMC from Consequences is one of the antagonists from Only Child (but not the victim, who will also get his story). It explains his motivation perfectly, makes the climax of Only Child about ten thousand times more epic and totally justifies everything I've thought about this character from the beginning. Success.

But it does increase the number of, "You know, that's kind of like Star Wars," comments I'm expecting x_X Am I the only person on god's green earth who's never seen those movies? If one more person tells me I'm ripping off something I've never seen, I think I'll break something.

I'm still sad that my MMC Kohi requires an H so he's not pronounced like a fish species, though. I want it to be "KO-(w)ee", rather like the front half of the name Cohen. To me, that's Koi or Ko'i. Apostrophes are too difficult to reach on Dvorak unless I need them, so I'm avoiding them in names, and Koi is a fish that rhymes with soy. Vexing. Ronan, who was temporarily Jexel, is now Ronan again. Saving the name Jexel for someone more spirited.

I have a grand total of 205 words on Consequences so far. Now it's time for sleep, so I can actually function at dog training tomorrow.

And that is great! I have so much space in here!!

Glad to be of service, Incandescent. :D

-blinks-

Wodhaund, did you literally nudge a plot bunny at me? I read that figuratively... until I found my dog chewing on one of the little puff-ball things we were using to represent plot bunnies at the meeting x_X Neither Alex nor I recall bringing it into the apartment.

Either that, or my australian shepherd has the strangest dog vomit I've ever seen. (Circus act, anyone?)

And fortunately, they've slowed down on the multiplying. Still getting plot-sparks, but nothing that would qualify as a plot-strike since the Saturday onslaught.
