I am planning hosting a write-in for Nano at my apartment. Normally, I'd pick a public place but those do tend to be closed so early. I do have a few ground rules though, described below.
Seating and How Many Can Come
I can probably host up to four other people easily. There are two desks (one for me) and a couch that can probably hold up to three people if laptops are placed on laps. Four would be pushing it. Extra people would get more complicated. The kitchen counter could work but people would have to bring their own seating. My bed, i suppose, is a viable option if we get one or two overflow but writing on that can be difficult. I do have a cat, so anyone with allergies can't attend. Sorry. :(
Snacks and Drinks
Snacks are bring your own. I may have some on hand, but don't depend on it. I'll have apple juice and grape juice in my fridge, along with more cups than people know what to do with. No coffee as I don't drink it. You are welcome to bring whatever non-alcoholic drinks desired and I have an outlet for a coffee machine if someone brings that and coffee.
Considering a good portion of the nano members are under 21, no alcohol will be permitted. A contributing to the delinquency of a minor charge would possibly ruin my career.
You can bring music provided you bring good earphones or we can use my music at a volume I choose.
Timing
We'll start at 1 AM or whenever everyone gets here and is ready, supposing there is enough interest. People are responsible for getting to and from my apartment, but I can give a phone number closer to the date over nanomail in case people get lost. Y'all will have to park in the downtown area as my apartment complex has very little excess parking.
Supposing those rules are acceptable, just post here saying you're interested. If you have a question, feel free to ask as well.

I'd be very interested!
Provided there is good driving directions XD so I won't get lost. 1am sounds like a good time so that I can still have a write off with my online friends. (Is there internet?)
I don't drink, so no worries there. I do love tea, so I'll most likely bring some. It's loose leaf tea, so I might have to borrow your stove or microwave to heat up the water if that's okay?
Hmm I can bring some snacks, probably like chips, candy and maybe some pop (bought at the Dollar Tree) I am not the richest person in the world! lol
Music, I got a MP3 player and would put it on low sound so I can still hear the conversations, IF there are any, as I expect we will be busy typing XD
If you want to send me a nanomail of your address and the place to park, so I can figure out how to get there, that would be great. The only people I'd show it to are my mom and step dad as they help me with directions. My mom might even drive me there a day or two early so I can know just where it is.
This sounds really great! Thanks for offering to do it!

I can nano-mail you directions and my phone number as the time gets closer. You can drive by and say hello provided I am home.
You're welcome to bring whatever snacks as there is room in my fridge and freezer. Also using stove and microwave are cool by me provided they aren't in use.
Oh I do have net. A friend gave me the password though. I don't remember it to tell you but you can use my computer to access the net before 1 AM. There is also an unsecured network that the owner has left on but I don't know the owner of that one.
You're welcome.

Sweet offer! That sounds great.
I'd absolutely love to kick-off NaNo in the company of other writers. My only problem is that I don't have a car, so I'd need to team up with someone who's wiling to give me a ride.

Sounds like fun, but I'll be kicking off Nanowrimo from Chicago. But if you do this again, I'd be interested.

No, I still don't have any transportation.
If anyone with a car who is planning to go to this write-in could message me so we could figure out if there's any way for them to pick me up, that would be sweet!!

Thanks for the directions and stuff! I'll try to be there, but it depends. My parents are funny about letting me drive that late around places I'm not familiar with.
And I still have no idea how to get there XD I suck at understanding directions and remembering street names!

Okay, talked to my parental unit AKA mommy, and she is against me going to the meetup because of the time. I guess I'll always be her little girl as long as I still live at home. So with that said, I will have to see you all on the Saturday meetings! I will be there tomorrow (the 31st) for sure unless a natural disaster stops me!!
So sorry Titus!! I hope we see you again on Saturdays! And thanks for the offer. I really was looking forward to it!!

Hey sorry you couldn't come. It seems like a lot of people are in the same boat. So I'm just going to cancel it. Maybe some other time I'll try again.

Sorry you had to cancel it. :(
For me it's just the time that is a problem obviously since it's the kickoff and being in a area I don't know (My mom is paranoid, you know?)
Hope we can get together though soon!
6 more hours!

It is understandable. I figured it would catch on more than it did. No loss though. I'll just do another one when I can make it. Your mom isn't paranoid. Mine would have said the same thing.

Thanks I'm glad you understand.
It's also that I don't have a cell phone yet and my car is a piece of junk.

Sounds like me at 18 but I didn't have a car then. See you Saturday hopefully. Depending on how long my ethics exam takes.
I wish I could delete this thread. LOL.
