Ok, I'm just going to do it. Start a new topic! So we were talking in the other one about a pre-November get-together. Then, FriendlyHobo said:
"All right, I'll go for it and say a week from tomorrow, next Sunday afternoon/evening. It'd be like "one week left" count-down. Is that good for people? Would you all rather prefer a public coffee shop, or should we discuss forgettingwalk's lovely hospitality? Should I make a new topic?"
And I was starting to say:
"I'm in! How about we meet at a public place first? That'll give everyone a back-out option - if they stumble in the door and decide we all look really creepy they can just awkwardly back away and pretend they're not associated with this all this backward-minded 'novel writing' hoodoo ;) "
And then I decided to make a new topic so people would know what they were looking at. Or for.
I like FriendlyHobo's idea of a 'one week' advance thing. So, building on that proposal, I submit Capanna Coffee in downtown Iowa City as the place, and how about 2:30 as the time (on Sunday, the twenty fifth)? I think that ought to give folks attending church time to get out and make their way down there.
Personally, I'm wide open in regards to time and place, so I won't be offended in the slightest if anyone would like to suggest somewhere/somewhen else.

That all sounds good to me. Capanna's pretty ideal for this.

I know that my mom wouldn't allow me to go meet people I met on the internet. But I would just throw out an idea of maybe the new Coralville Public Library. They have some nice tables if that would interest you. Haha!

Yay! This is so happening! Capanna is good. Nerdy_Unicorn, you could bring your mom to see we are not the evil that one hears about on Oprah. I know it seems lame to bring your mom somewhere, but well, I won't judge.

My mother still only thinly conceals that it weirds her out a little :) She has almost entirely stopped asking where I met such-and-so at any given time. It's great that she's looking out for you, and she'd definitely be welcome, far as I'm concerned.
So. Capanna, 2:30, Sunday the 25th is still the favourite unless objections are lobbied in the next week.

Well, a teacher that I had two years ago offered to take me if my mom said it was okay (the teacher is also doing NaNoWriMo!)
Sadly, I have a piano recital that Sunday, at about that time, at a nursing home. I think it's called Walden Place?

Provided the paper I need to finish this weekend doesn't eat my soul, I shall be there with bells on. Well, not literal bells, that would be rather awkward. But metaphorical bells.

Hey! I'm writing in Cedar Rapids but I'd love to join you on the 25th. I hope the CR group does a pre-Nov gathering, but not the same day!
