Welcome to the madness! My mom actually lives in Monticello. :)
We have a tendency to meet in Warner Robins, but we're definitely scheduling some Macon write-ins and such, so we hope to see you! And if not, well, we'll be all over the forum, eager to help and give support virtually!

Future welcome to the area!
It's always a pleasure to meet new writers - sounds like this is going to be the year for it :)
Some of us (me) are from the sub-suburbs of Macon/WR, but I try to get to the meetings regardless because this is a great group.
Looking forward to meeting you,
Tanya

Welcome to the area! We're a pretty cool group of people, if I do say so myself... and I'm sure you'll have a blast with us! If you can make it to our kickoff party, that's a great way to start, but we'll definitely have other events all month, and we'd love to see you out at some of them. Keep an eye on the calendar and the forums for details about our events.

Thank you all of you! I cant wait to get down there. Right now it looks like we will be driving that way on Samhain (Halloween). I am not too happy about that, but I guess I will get over it lol!
So I have a few questions....are we allowed to go ahead and make an outline or must we completely wait til November 1st?
You all seem so Cheery :-)

You can outline to your heart's content! You can do character sketches, you can build your world, you can write unrelated stories about your characters or settings... the only thing you can't do is actually write any of the content of your novel.
For example, one of my characters has a very convoluted work history. I'm making a list of all of the jobs she's had, and the timeline of the employment, as well as a list of jobs she lies about having had. All of the planning stages are allowed.
Good luck with the move!
Danie
(And for anyone who hasn't noticed, now that there's another Danielle in our area, I will be officially signing off as 'Danie', hopefully avoiding some confusion!)

Could some of you nice folks who live in the WR/Macon area tell us about what you like about it. We are thinking about moving to the area. I've been in and out of Macon off and on for three years. Mostly business and medical reasons so i never got a real feel for the area other than that it is there. I can list the big stuff. I mean I know where Mercer, the big box bookstores and the dentist is located. Norma has Chico's spotted and the new Mall.. But, life in them thar parts. Tell us about that if you would.
Thank you

Monticello is your typical tiny town. Most everyone goes to Macon, Covington, Conyers, Atlanta, etc. for shopping and entertainment. But I like it here and have lived on the lake nearby for seven years now. Welcome.

Hi Dixie,
I am glad you are considering our nec' of the woods! I am from a small town here in Ga and I moved to the Destin Florida area. After about 3 years there it was time for us to move back and we knew this is where we would move. We could have went back our small town but we were looking for alittle more. We wanted a diverse community that you could still get to know your neighbors in. I wanted to be close enough to everything with out having to make a "TRIP" to town. I also wanted to able to sleep with my windows open at night. The Healthcare options in this area were also a big draw for my family since my senoir in-laws live with me. No of course it is no Green Acres and for that I am thankful but it does feel like home with out stepping back in time. I live in the Byron area and I can see myself here for years to come.

I recently moved down to Milledgeville from Gloucester, VA.
I have been doing NaNoWriMo since 2007, but have yet to make it to the finish line.
I'm hoping this is my year- do ya'll find that being in a group helps?

I find being in a group helps immensely! There's a certain amount of competition that helps, but more importantly, there's a sort of group sympathy - we're all in the same boat, and it helps to know you're not alone.
We'd love to see you out, if you can make it to any of our events!

Personally, I find being part of a group has helped. especially the Mooslings. The group helps keep me focused, especially if I can make it to a write-in or any of the meetings just to bounce ideas around or vent about how my characters won't behave.
Welcome to the area and good luck this year. You've already make a great start!
