We're having a write-in! Everybody squee!
Where: State Library on North Terrace
Date: Sunday, 8th November
Time: 1pm til 4pm.
Map/How to get there: A short walk from the train station. Just head up the ramp, turn left, and continue walking past Parliament House. It's next to the museum.
Details: There's plenty of parking around if you prefer to drive. It's super cheap on Sundays as well.
We'll be in Study Room 1 (it's the massive glass room in the middle of the library). Go up one flight of stairs, past security(handbags and non-laptop bags will need to be checked at the security station) and you'll see several glass-walled rooms. See that massive one on the left? That's us!
Unfortunately food isn't allowed inside the library, however there is a cafe downstairs if you need a sugar or caffeine hit! We're also thinking that after the write-in, we'll head downstairs, grab some coffee and have some chill-out time on the grass.
Mel and I will be at the Library at around 12:45. We'll be waiting out the front near the fountains. Look for the people with the laptop bags! We'll be heading inside at 1pm, so if you think you'll be late or might get lost, just PM me or Mel for our mobile numbers :)
Powerboards will be needed, so if you have a spare one lying about, please bring it! It will be greatly appreciated.

I used to intern at the library and I love it there! Weekends are a prime time to hide among the books and do whatever.
If I can, I'll definitely try to be there! (I might be visiting in-laws in Whyalla that weekend...)

it's funny you should say that, becuase I'm currently trying to devise plans to escape Whyalla that weekend so that I can make it ... I don't think it will happen though. I will however be in Adelaide for the 29th, so fingers crossed someone will hold a write in then.

Grrr. I will be working. I've already switched shifts for the Kick Off and I'm only owed so many favours. :P Plus I need someone to cover for me when I go way late Nov/early Dec so I can't ask for too much. :P But I shall be there in spirit. And I will really, really try and make it to the next one. :)

I'm coming! Just a question though, my younger sister, who is 11 and doing the young writer's program, would like to know if she's allowed to come along with me and write. I told her it would probably be okay, but that I would check that it's alright.

@Pianochick we normally like to organise things for Saturdays but we couldn't avoid the Sunday this time. We'll see what we can do about other Saturdays/Sundays. I think we might have to mix things up a bit :)

I have a few questions. First of all, I'm 14 years old, do I need a parent to stay with me? Secondly, I don't have a laptop, is it necessary? Thanks in advance.

You don't need a parent to stay with you as long as your parents have given you permission to be there with us. If you need someone to meet your parents or anything I'll help you out. :)
If you don't have a laptop you can always use a pen and paper. Most people will have laptops there although in the past some have brought pen and paper and done things that way. (There will probably be more laughing and chatting going on than writing at the first write-in!)
