Mark,

Welcome to NaNo. This is my fifth year writing, and I hope will be my fourth consecutive win.

I don't know what's going on in the DBQ area, but we've got a pretty hopping crowd up the road in Platteville. If you don't mind crossing the state line, you're welcome to come hang with us.

Hi Wendy, and thanks for the welcome. I'll keep in mind coming up to Platteville, I'm up there on occasion.

Hi Mark this is my first year as well. Several of my friends and I are going to take a stab at it together. Most of us actually roleplay with the Tri-State Roleplayers Guild playing D&D. We have taken a stab at writing our own adventures so now we are going to try and twist it into something novelish. We range in age from 20 something to almost 40. I can't wait to see what our vivid imaginations churn out. Feel free to add me to your buddy list if you need some friendly encouragement. Good Luck!

Roleplay is a great way to get started on novels. Two of my successful NaNo years rose from lots and lots of roleplay written down. Then again, I'm more of a LARP-er than anything else, because papers always get in between myself and my character development, but some people don't have that problem. ;3

I'm here.

My name is Isaac, and I will be doing the NaNoWriMo for the first time, as well. Nearly everyone in my Wednesday night DnD group is participating, all for the first time.

So I would guess that D&D will be on hold for the month of November? I couldn't imagine trying to play D&D (when I played we played weekly) and writing a 50,000 word novel!

No, Meteormoe is my DM. And the way I see it, it is only around 1700 words per night. I can do that pretty easily.

I'm a Dubuquer! But I don't play euchre.

This will be my second try. A fail 2 years ago, and last Nov. I produced a baby instead of a novel.

We gonna try to do a get together? There's no Miguels anymore, so where would we have it?

Hi, Mark. I'm Dan and I'm a Dubuquer. I joined last year but this is my first year actually doing anything. This month will be hell since in addition to writing a novel, I'm a full time student at Clarke and I work full time. So if I don't win, I'll have an excuse, but if I do win, I will lay claim to the crown of world's most awesome person.

I would really like to be world's most awesome person.

This is my fourth year trying, and hopefully my second win. I have a wonderful inspiration in the form of a proof copy from winning two years ago, but I also have a wonderful distraction in the form of my baby who was born last year (hence why I didn't participate last year).

Last year I took some roleplaying characters and just ran away with them (like I had tried the previous two times). This year, I'm trying something new (probably since my face to face rpg group has kind of disbanded and I do all my roleplaying online now). We'll see if it works!

Should we try to do a write-in around midpoint?
The evening of Monday the 16th at either a coffee shop or the library would work for me.

I think that's a good idea. I want to go to a write-in, but don't want to travel to do it. I keep thinking of the number of words I could write were I not driving back and forth from IC or CF.

I like the coffee shop idea. I like Jitterz but it's a bit small. Though I don't think we'll need much room. One Mean Bean has more room.

I'm up for anything, really.

Are all you Dubuquers still writing?

I'm still interested in a meet-up/write-in if anyone wants to set a date.

Hey, guys. I'm the ML for Wisconsin: Elsewhere and I know that Dubuque is only half an hour away from where I'm located, so I thought I might extend this invitation to you:

I can come to Dubuque to bring a few people to the party if there's interest. :)
