Hi - I'm in Waxhaw and would love to try to get together for some moral support and maybe get those competitive juices flowing. I just made a post suggesting a kick off up near 485 & 77 but if it fizzles away, I'd love to do one closer to here, maybe meet at a Borders (I'm a 35 yo mom of 2, love to dump the kids into the kiddie section) or a local coffee shop or even a restaurant, something, somewhere..?

I just want to WRITE! and not wuss out! :)

South Charlotte (easily mistaken for Matthews) checking in! Already happy to know I'm not the only one down south.

Hi there!

I am closer to South Charlotte -- I live near Mint Hill. I am out of town A LOT, but would love to get together sometime.

I'm a Monroe dweller and would LOVE to get together during November. I'd also like to host a write-in somewhere along the way at our family business on Airport Road - plenty of space and I'll bring the cookies!

Hi all! I'm in SW Charlotte, basically almost in South Carolina, lol. I'm kind of SOL for write-in parties because my friend borrowed my laptop for an indefinite period of time. It's good to see more of us in this area since so many seem to be in the Northern Charlotte area.

I guess I'm south? I actually live pretty close to uptown, right off South Blvd, but since there's no 'center' group...

Do you guys have any more write-ins planned that you need me to add to the calendar so everyone can be aware of them? Just send me a nanomail as you plan them and I will add it to the calendar.

Can anyone save me a trip Panera-shopping, and tell me which one(s) are more write-in-able?

I may go check out the Matthews one across from Target tonight and do some brainstorming...

Thanks!!

solstice,

I can only schedule one write-in at a time with the library. So on Sunday, I will likely schedule another write-in at South County Regional for 11/8.

That is unless I can't think of anything to write about, which is looking like a possibility... lol.

I'm in Rock Hill too Celtic!

Sadly I don't think I'll be able to join in on the write-ins. There's only one way for me to travel- via bicycle.

The Panera on South Tryon (across from Wal-Mart) is pretty good. In past years, some write-ins were held there and they were super productive for me!

Thanks Regann. The one in Matthews didn't do it for me. Too distracting maybe.

I am actually in the Southpark area and since the options were N, S, E, W this seemed like the logical landing place. I think most of my write-ins will be at home. I am a single-parent so plan on planting my laptop on my lap and penning while propped up in bed after the little one has gone to sleep.

I am near the Arboretum. I might try to come tomorrow to the marathon, but probably will not make it.

I have a seizure disorder which is uncontrolled by meds and besides the fatigue, anything overstimulating, such as a store, etc., will trigger seizures. So, basically I am stuck at home. But the library might be a possibility for a little while tomorrrow if I can get DH to drive me.

It seems I am not the only one with portability problems. Is anyone interested in internet write'-ins, where we email or twitter or something, agree on a time frame, and have a go at it from home or whereever we want to write.? I would really love the companionship, but getting out is just too risky for me. I don't think a seizure in the middle of a write-in would be beneficial to anyone--LOL! (Although it might give you some new material . . . )

Anyone else for virtual write-ins?

Anyone up for early morning writes at Coffeeworks at the Arboretum? I think they open at 7 am, but I could check.

anyone else writing way early in the morning, before the day starts, as in 5-8 am? Want to be buddies?

Anyone else writing through illness? Want to be buddies?

Only a few hours left. Good luck to everyone!

I'm also near the Arboretum. And this is also my first attempt at this. I'm not sure if I am going to (or want to?) do the write-ins. Since this is my first time, I just feel like I'll be slower, less prepared, and less..."good at writing" than everyone else there, and that is a sort of intimidating thought. But I do like the idea of the virtual write-in. I'm not exactly sure how we could do it, maybe some kind of IM chat thing? Or doesn't Facebook have that option as well? But something that is pretty low-key, but still able to motivate me to keep going would be ideal. Anyone good at organizing this sort of thing? Maybe this wouldn't even have to be limited to the South Group? Maybe someone could create a Virtual Write-In thread on the main Charlotte message board?

Nvl:

Tomorrow's write-in might be a little chaotic. But by next Sunday, it should be much calmer. Maybe you could come to that one, as the room is not very stimulating. I'll pay attention to the lighting tomorrow, and let you know about that. My daughter has a seizure disorder, though it is well-controlled with medication. But Mom knows what to look out for.

Good luck getting your novel written!!

Internet write-ins are fun. I've done 'em before, usually with AIM. Then you can keep it open in the background and hear that little *bloop* noise whenever someone messages. Best way to do it is to have one person open a room and invite the rest.

Also, near the Arboretum! I'd join at Coffeeworks in the am, but I don't like getting up an earlier than I have to.

Good luck everyone!

I'm in on online write- ins, but they'd have to be in teh evening for me. I'm in college, so day time is class time. I'm also restricted to when I can get to a computer lab, because my laptop is dead until the 7-8th when I get a new laptop charger. >_< Great time for my laptop charger to commit suicide, don't ya think?

sorry I can't be at the South County write-in today, guys. I'm staying home, making soup, and burning word count. I'm moderately pleased with how things are going so far.

Hi,

I'm in South Charlotte and am so relieved to see so many Charlotteans on here and doing it. I can't make the write-in today, even though it's a great location for me (i'm near the intersection of Colony and Rea).

This is my first time doing it, and I can't believe it. I just stumbled upon a reference to it on Friday and up and decided to do it.

Good luck to everybody!

Wish I could have been there today. Any other write-ins planned this week in the South? I'm reasonably free as of Tues evening.
