Any NaNo participants in Vietnam this year?
Judging by responses the past couple of years, and the other thread I posted in this forum this year, maybe not. And Vietnam's maybe not the most conducive place for writing (around here I know a lot more people that write than people that are writing), but who knows?
Do let me know if you are!

ZOMG!! There is a whole thread for Vietnam?!
Well I'm not actually *in* Vietnam at the moment but I'm Vietnamese...that should count, right?I'm finishing up uni in Australia at the moment and actually usually I'd be home by the middle of November but this year I'm sticking around until Xmas.
Where in VN are you, if you don't mind my asking? :D
--and I just answered my own question by looking at your profile. I'm from Hanoi :) but it's wonderful to meet another Wrimo in VN.
I hope you don't mind me adding you as a buddy.

:O :O :O Well, I'm not actually in VN right now, but I'm Vietnamese (studying in Switzerland). :DDDD I'm rly surprised there are other Vietnamese participants. :DDD I'm from HCMC, and I'll be back home in January.
I did NaNoWriMo once in 2006, but that wasn't very successful, haha. I gave up after 30,000. /o\ I hope this year I'll actually win. :D
If I were still in VN, I'd totally love to have a meet-up and writing parties. \o/

Hi HMSChocolate and Sinne, nice to hear from you both - even though you are not in Vietnam right now, you can both be here in spirit, somehow :)
Yep, go ahead and add me as a buddy (if you haven't already). It's always good for the encouragement :)
2006 was the last and only time I won NaNo... this year is my next real attempt after that one, though it's going to be more difficult this time - not from lack of ideas, but from time management and other various things.
Good luck in your own attempts, and keep in touch :)

yes, I'm going to try it this year! I'm an English teacher in Hanoi. I need to get back to "writing" rather than just being a writer.

Ok why I keep getting this insane idea of just sitting by West Lake to write? Or Hoan Kiem Lake. It might be too hard to dodge all the couples making out by West Lake.
And I'm not even in Hanoi.

I think I'd have problems at Hoan Kiem Lake just avoiding all the postcard touts - if it's the same as it was two years ago, that is. But it's probably easier if you're Vietnamese ;)
Just 6 hours till midnight. Good luck everyone! :)

Just curious, since we've been silent for a while... how is everyone doing? :D?
I've just reached the 30k mark despite being swarmed in exams and reports and organising an art show
and obsessively listening to bad dance music. It feels pretty good, though I have the feeling I've abandoned my original plot in favour of a series of drunken shenanigans and endless rambling about delicious food. My friend reckons it reflects (my) real life pretty well. I have no regrets. :DSo how are you? What are your characters up to at the middle of the month?

I am dying to go back to Hanoi where it is now nice and cold instead of 40 degrees Australian heat. That said, despite the peak temperature of 43 degrees today, I managed to churn out 8k which was astonishing.
