Bristol Write-Ins have been well established but Bath Write-Ins have never been very successful. I'm prepared to give it a go again this year though. As such, I propose we organise one and see what happens:
The Assembly Inn
Thursday 5th November
From 6pm onwards.
I'll put up a sign on my laptop or something so you can find us.
See you there!

Ahhh, I'm in Glasgow that day :( (Damn Uni open days.)
I'm definitely up for any other events in Bath though, it's infinitely easier for me to get to Bath than it is for me to get to Bristol.

Why not, my fiance is in a play that evening so I'll be writing all evening and it's not far from me
How do these write-in's work anyway - do we all sit around typing in a big word circle? Talk about plot ideas, character names or just drink and wait for the writers block to pass?!

All of the above. Write-Ins are fairly informal - we write a fair amount (some of us do, at least) as well as chatting about anything from badly behaved characters to the newest Doctor Who. If you read through some of the other threads in the Bristol & Bath section the content of Write-Ins has been mentioned a lot.
If you do get Writers Block, by the way, I recommend Write Or Die, which I think many of used last year in order to actually focus. You set either how many words you want to write or how long you want to write for and you can set how keen you are, ranging from the screen flashing when you've stopped writing all the way to the website actually deleting what you've written until you get typing again. (I don't think any of us have ever used that setting though. :p)

I'm sure you'll all be chuffed to hear I've actually got the day off on Thursday so I can definitely make it. (Which despite having organised it, wasn't a given. :p) As such. I might come down to the Assembly Inn a bit earlier - anyone free/interested in starting earlier in the afternoon?

I'm in Bath but I have to pick up children so might miss this Thursday. Maybe another time.
I've done some short plays which have been performed but would like to actually finish a novel before I reach 50 (next year!!!) That's if work, my children and all the other things I get myself roped don't get in the way....

It was fantastic to see so many of you on Thursday - the first Bath success!!
I'm definitely up for one next week. The only hiccup we encountered with The Assembly Inn is they don't have a chef and thus don't do food. Someone suggested we try the Porter Bar on George Street. Since it's above Moles and is the one of the alternative trendy pubs in Bath I expect it to be rammed, but shall we want to give it a go anyway?
If we don't like it, we can head up to the Assembly Inn again - it's just up the road from there.

Hullo! I suggested Moles, but we went there to eat afterwards and you're right it's too busy and too noisy, so I have an alternative suggestion The Griffin on Monmouth Street. Has Wifi and food and has recently been refurbished and looks very nice.
----------It also has a back room which is separate to the usual bar and could be a good writing den...

The Hobgoblin lets people bring their own food
Alternatively, the Raven does pies that are the stuff of legends, and is a very writer-ly pub; the Bath Storytelling circle meets there.
Just throwing some suggestions out

The Hobgoblin is really loud, I don't think it's a great place for a Write-In, although it is quite a nice pub. (If you're quite strange and thus fit in there, that is.)
We had a Write-In at the Raven last year which wasn't a total disaster, but I wouldn't say it was ideal. We sat upstairs where there were power sockets and it all felt a little bit isolated because we were the only ones there. :(
I don't know if I'll be about this week, I might be in Brizzle instead because I've got some work over there in the afternoon. I'd recommend trying the Griffin this week?

----------We are here in The Griffin http://www.griffinbath.co.uk/

A note to all Bath NaNo-ers that this weeks (19th November) will be in the Raven pub on Queen Street from whenever you feel like getting there!! (18:00 seems likely.)
