I'm new to the area, and have yet to find a good place to work. I have three kids, a husband, and musical instruments at home, so I tend to do most of my writing out and about. Evenings and weekends.
But where???
Most of the libraries here are closed on Sundays (unbelievable), and the ones that are open are standing room only. The coffee shops I've tried were really loud and busy.
So where do the writers hang out in Charlotte? Seems like every town has their secret hole in the wall writer hang-outs...
Thanks for the help yall!!
:-) Jen

I know someone who writes in the food court at malls from 1:30ish to 3 weekdays because they're empty and quiet at that time. lots of churches have rooms that no one is using and the ymcas have meeting rooms they rent out...they may let you use one that is unrented. Also the Dowd YMCA has a huge dining room/lounge area which includes a more private area at the back which is dead on Sundays. They're open from 12pm to 6 on Sundays.

if you are a morning writer, charlote cafe at the arboretum is quiet and you can sit as long as you want; just tip well. By lunchtime they are busy.
Sometimes I go to a friend's house who works. All the fixins are there, and a spirit of companionship and support without the distraction of the friend being present.

I'm new to Charlotte as well, and have been trying out new places. So far, I've liked the Borders at Stonecrest best. Limited outlets though. Great during the workdays and not bad on Saturday afternoon. I've spent time at the Paneras in Ballantyne Village, reasonably good but not during lunch time or weekends. The Dilworth Coffee in BV was ok, but not enough tables/outlets.
If you want to get together to write, let me know and we can check out some new places.
