Okay, so I'm trying to whip up some T-shirts as they were fairly popular last year. I'd like to get some input though...
Last year we had the following shirt design:

Do we want a different design on the back? I will update the front to have 09 instead of 08. Also, do we want to stay with black or have white shirts this year? The other colors are harder to find for low cost.
Please give me your input! Thanks!

First of all, I love the idea of shirts.
I think making them different each year by more than just the year on the front would be a good thing. I know you said other colors cost more but, if enough people wanted red or another color, maybe we could donate for that? I think you could have the same saying on different colors and that would make them look different.
Just my .02.

I believe we charged something like $5 for the shirts last year. I'll have to double check on that. I came up with a price that would cover the costs if we sold 3/4 of them and any after that would go towards party costs and any left over went to Nano. A red shirt will cost at least a dollar more per shirt which would increase the cost to the participants which is why I avoid them. But I do agree and like the idea. I'll see if I can come up with anything.

Okies, I tracked down some dark navy shirts for this year! We'll have 20 of them at the kick off to start with. I have a few left over from last year. I'm still working on what the price will be and will let you know!

Just so you know, using CafePress.com may be a lot easier.
All you have to do is upload an image and choose the shirts that you want your logo to appear on. Then each person can simply order them (at cost) and have them shipped to their home.
Maybe it'll cost more than the option you've already got going though, and maybe the logo has to show on the front only.
Just flinging an idea up onto the ceiling, like a half-cooked pancake, to see if it'll stick.
Here's some sample shirts. Made as a joke and it took me about 8 minutes to create the logo and upload the image. From soup to shirts.
Check it out if you like. Then you can get the logo on mousepads, coffee mugs, clocks, whatever you want.

If you already know about this, please to ignore my noisy typing.

I have looked at Cafepress in the past, and we even used it one year. The problem is two fold. First, most people want to have this shirts immediately, ie... at the party. They don't want to order ahead of time or wait for shipping. Second, and more importantly, is cost. The DANG shirts this year are $8, or 2 for $15. I had to go up a dollar or two from last year to cover costs. I price them to cover cost if we sell 75% of them. Most of the cafe press shirts start in the $15 range I believe.
As a side note, the name Nanowrimo is copyrighted, and we would have to be very careful what we put up on cafe press. We sidestep this by calling them DANG shirts and selling them only in the group. Putting them where anyone could purchase them would be a gray area.
So, I have looked into it before. I've also looked into ordering them from local shops. The cheapest I could find would have been $9 and had a required order of like 50 shirts. We usually sell 15ish. Hence, I get my co-ML's together, fire up the printer and make shirts!
