It's almost time for NaNo to start. That means it's almost time for the Kick-Off Party! The KO Party, in short, is where you can meet other WriMos, talk about your budding novel-to-be, and get free stuff from me!
Awesome, right?
Well, this year, due to a few factors, we're combining the first write-in of the season and the Kick-Off Party. The first half of the event will be the KO Party, full of fun, games, awesome people, ninjas, and free things. The second half of the event will be full of writing! If you are able to only make the KO part of the event (or the write-in part), that is completely fine! Leaving early or coming late is no problem.
WHEN: Sunday, November 1st, from 11am - 2pm.
WHERE: Margie's Java Joint, 931 16th Street, Greeley, CO 80631 (It's right on the corner of 16th street and 10th ave, across the street from UNC's Frasier building, and it's in the same structure as the Bookstop).
For the KO Party part, you need bring absolutely nothing! As Margie's is kind enough to let us have the event at their establishment, though, if you anticipate wanting coffee, a smoothie, a delicious food item, or whatever else, you may want to bring a bit of money. We will also have a donations jar that we will donate to NaNo at the end of the season but you do not need to donate a single cent if you don't want to.
For the writing part it is recommended that you bring something to write with or on. They have plenty of plugs at Margies so laptops are a go, as are pen and paper, napkins, your arm, whatever you write best on!
If you are definitely going to make it, or you think you might make it but you're not sure if you're going to be able to, post here! That way I know how much free stuff to bring for you! However, if you're reading this 20 minutes before the event starts, please show up anyway! An RSVP is really just so I know approximately how many chairs to steal and don't let a lack of an RSVP stop you from attending the event.

Definitely! I unfortunately forgot to bring my camera and video camera to the KO but in the future I'll do so! I'll be gone for this weekend's events unfortunately but for the rest of them there shall be documentation!
I can do the description part, though:
I handed out some packets (a calendar, plot twists, a novel emergency sheet, stuff like that - I can email all of those to anyone who wants them, too) and we introduced ourselves. We also played a Plot Twist game where you write a short summary of your novel and pass it to the person on your right and they write a potential plot twist and pass it to their right and so on until it gets back to the original writer. Then we wrote, set goals for ourselves, and I learned how to use my new egg timer thing for a writing sprint. There was coffee and sandwiches and it was a hoot.
