Hey everyone!

Since I am not finding any scheduled meetups or write-ins for my area, I am posting a thread to see who is interested in one. I am willing to put one together, but I'd like to to know everyone's general schedule in order for that to happen!

So if anyone interested could reply with one day and a block of time that they would be willing to devote to a pre-Nano meetup and/or a write-in, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!

Jenni

Hey Jenni -

I work two jobs, and the second one is retail - so my schedule is pretty random. I'm generally free in the mornings/afternoons on the weekends, and I'm sporadically available after 6 on weeknights. I suspect that isn't very helpful, but I'm definitely interested in attending meet ups and write ins when I can! Also, Friday is wide open for me this week... and I'd even bring an out-of-town friend who happens to also be a Nanowrimoer.

Okay... not sure why my computer is acting up, but it wanted to post my comment twice. So, I'm editing it to reflect this apology instead of a second identical post!

No problem! It happens to me too. =)

Next Friday, I am working until 5, but I was thinking if you were open, then you and your friend, and me and my fellow Nano buddy, Ripter, can meet at the Jefferson Pointe B&N for a meet-up/getting to know you meeting at 6 or 6:30? So far, there are only a few of us, but I think that can generate great promise!

Let me know what you think, and I will have the ML publicly post it on the Region page!

Jenni

Ok,

Based on the replies to all threads in our area, Ripter and I have decided on some times. All meetup and write-ins will be posted publicly via the ML as well as on the IPFW Writers thread. I will post the first round of meets and writes on the FW Intro thread, too, but from now on, they will only be posted here and on the IPFW thread.

Here are the scheduled meetups and write-ins thus far in Ft. Wayne:

Location:

Barnes & Noble- Jefferson Pt Location
4140 W. Jefferson Blvd. Bldg. J
Ft. Wayne, IN 46804

Meetup- Saturday, October 31st 10:00-11:30 am (Costumes optional!)*

Write-In- Friday, November 6th 6:00-7:30 pm*

Write-In Saturday, November 7th 10:00-11:30 am*

Like I said, all will be at B&N, probably in the cafe, closest to the coffee. =) There will be a sign on one of the tables that says in big letters, "WRITE-IN"

Thanks, and we hope to see you all there!

*Meetup times are extremely flexible. Come anytime and leave whenever you want. The times above are the guaranteed times when either Ripter or I will be there.

Oh hey - thank you for taking the initiative to organize meetings in Ft. Wayne. I was really hoping there would be a group, but didn't have the gumption to do it myself. See you Saturday!

Might seem a bit far, but I used to commute to Fort Wayne, so here goes: You're welcome to join the folks in Marion/Grant County for any of our events. If you're from the south side, it's probably around 45 minutes. If you're from Huntington, Berne, Warren, etc., it's a little over a half hour.

I'm setting at least a third of our events at businesses off of I-69 to make it easier for people from adjoining regions to join us.

We'll have our kickoff and some write-ins at Payne's and the Gas City Starbucks, which are at Exit 59 off of I-69. See Marion post for details.

Just a reminder to all those coming to the meet-up tomorrow:

We will be gathering in the cafe at 10am. I will hopefully have a sign standing on a table, with several other tables pulled together so everyone can sit in the same area.

Goals of the meet-up are pretty basic: meet and greet other area Wrimos and talk about our novels, of course! Bring a friend who is willing to take the plunge with you, or who will just be part of your support system! I cannot promise any free food or drink, but there is a lovely array of coffee and goodies offered for purchase in the cafe. =)

Hope to see you there, and if you have any last minute questions, nanomail me and I will try to answer in a timely fashion!

Again, costumes are encouraged, but not required! Dress as your favorite writer or character, or just be yourself!

Until tomorrow,

Jenni

I certainly appreciate the invitation, but I live too far away to make your write-ins. I wish I could! Good luck to everyone there!

Hi all!

I will be hosting write-ins at the Pontiac Branch of the Allen County Public Library (the Hanna-Creighton campus, next to the Urban League) each Saturday of the month from 10-noon and 3-6 pm. Laptops (about 12?) will be provided. Please join us! We'll meet in the meeting room! For more info, give me a call at 421-1350.

Just a reminder to keep checking the ML page for local meetups and write-ins! The next one will be tomorrow at 6:00! There will be a sign in the cafe for those who are too meek to ask random strangers. We had a great turnout last week, and more are always welcome!

Hope to see you there!
