There seems to be a few of us this year! I think there's one or two more in the introduction thread who noted they're here, but haven't voices up here just yet :)

So, do we want to have a meetup anytime? Maybe on the 31st October to discuss... or the 1st to start writing? Let me know :)

Awesome :D Good to have you back too :)

So we can meet up on the 1st... Which is a Sunday, at what time and where? Last year we met at the open air cafe in Nightcliff, but I don't think we could really write there that easily. Any suggestions or preferences? :)

Yep - rural Darwin and counting down the days. Hope I can get the energy to get into this amazing writing adventure. With the weather lately all I want to do is collapse on the lounge in the aircon when I get home from work. Is anyone else feeling it?

I am tipping you will be overflowing with energy come the weekend. I could only dream about having an airconditioned lounge to collapse in. Mind you I seem to be handling the heat ok so far this build up, I just keep saying the worst is yet to come, don't let it get to you yet!

Good luck with the writing and lovely to see you here :)

Hi guys
I'd love to meet up some time...I have a friend visiting from overseas from Friday till early Tuesday though (red eye flight out), so I'm not really going to start writing till after she leaves. But I'd love to meet up at some other time.
I'm a big fan of coffee ... fave places to sit and work when I need out of the office are Ludmilla McCafe (free wireless internet, although that might be a distraction during NaNo time, plus it can get noisy) or the Boatshed cafe at Cullen Bay - their side rooms are awesome if there are a few people sitting down to work... Feel free to use those suggestions even if I cant be there!
Will hopefully catch up with you all later in the month though!

Wow - I can't believe its nearly the end of Oct and that means YOOHOO we start on Sunday. If you all decide to meet up, I'd really like to join you. I live rural but it won't be a problem to meet in town. What do you do when you meet up? chat - drink coffee- chat some more - write - chat about writing???? I'm open to all of the above.

thanks for the welcome

Yo, Darwinite here! I reckon the Palmo library might be a good place to have a write-in - members can use the wireless network there, and I don't think they mind drinks in the library. I've seen quite a few people hanging there with coffee cups by their laptops. On Sundays I think it's only open 'till 1, but other than that it should be 'till around 6pm(?).

I'm off school right now, so any time of the day should be good for me.

I'm in rural Darwin also!
This is my first year and I'm really excited about starting. I don't frequent the forums that much so I'm a bit late commenting on this. A meet up some time could be nice but I don't know if I could make it. Depends on where it would be held and the time. A lot of my day is spent on house and yard work since the member of the family which usually does that is on holiday for three months. :/

Random question but I really wanted to ask: Normally this time of the year, we get a lot of rain and storms. If you don't have a laptop, how do you manage writing while the power is off?

Good luck to everyone participating this year. I hope our region does really well.

Yup, anything is pretty much welcome :) We can chat, help each other with our novels, share what we've written, or do actual writing.

Another good suggestion :D Where would be best for everyone? Palmerson? City? Casuarina area?

Remember, there's the official online writeins too :)

I make notes and type it up when the power's back on ^^

Eh, don't worry Inno. You'll get through it. Go in hard on the first day - 1 hour 30 minutes from now :P - and get a couple thousand done. If they're a horrible few thousand words, good! That's the point of NaNo.

Who's joining me for the online write-in? Got my Halloween candy here, and I'm going in hard :P.

Speaking of which, anyone got other snack ideas for me?

yep patiently waiting for the clock hands to tick over, tried to get a nap in earlier but my brain was to wired, it just wanted to write. 10 bucks says come midnight it will be blank!!!!

As for snack ideas I am all out, totally forgot to stock up on snacks so looks like toast and honey for me tonight! I guess that makes my sanity at only about 90%

Private chat? Oh, and only 41 minutes left.

By the way, Vegemite on Salada biscuits works. Tastes really good, too!

Check under the Regional Info tab at the top of our Regional Lounge :) It has a link to our Elsewhere Australia private chat room, and the password to get in :) Eight currently there, writing or chatting about it.
