Seven days to go. What all have you guys (and gals) got planned so far? Any prospective ideas?
Mine is a pretty standard sci-fi schtick: basically sets some aspect of the Roman Republic and/or Empire in outer space (as is a common trope within sci-fi space operas). I don't feel any need to bend the rules with this genre. I'm simply planning on taking basic themes within the genre and working within those parameters - though it's fair to say that the era of Roman history with which I'll be using as my muse will be a less-than-common era. ::cue mysterious music::
What are y'all doing? Anybody doing any special preps for the event (outlines, character charts, maps, etc), or are most people starting cold turkey? I tried going cold turkey last year and failed about 20% through, though Asterisk went cold turkey and succeeded.
See y'all at IHOP on Saturday.

I've a dark satire of the Apocalypse from the perspective of the designated Anti-Christ. I have reasonable hopes that it'll be better than it sounds. Since I'm writing for a living at the moment, this will be my side project, but it should be relaxing.
I'm actually testing out StorYbook (PC) for this one, I've plotted out most of the novel. I usually use yellow legal pads or OneNote for my random notes and then collate those in writing. It'll probably be about the same.

I'm writing a romance/angst/mystery type story. A young boy is kidnapped and forced to do unspeakable things. We will find love eventually. Half of it is from the young boy's view. The other half is from his family and the police's view in their search for him.
----------I'm doing a character sketch that includes age, looks, personality traits, and what role they play in the story. I'm also doing a chapter by chapter outline. It's going to be broad enough though, that if I want to change it, I can.

I'm writing a fiction story. I guess it would be more young adult than anything though. It's about an English boy in the 1890s (I think, I'm still working out some kinks) and he's adopted by a russian family where he's an outcast. He and one of his sisters plan an escape where they learn about themselves and the world (I don't think that's exactly where I wanna go, but, it's a possibility).
I've done some basic character and plot outlines (I generally like to form my plot as I write) so, I was able to get down what I need to to keep myself on track but it also gives me room to explore some. I'm using a map and lots of resources because it takes place in russia and I really don't know anything about the place and even though it's fiction, I want my story to make sense.
Since this is my first NaNoWriMo, I don't know what will work and what won't. =D

I'm writing a romantic tragedy about a selfish socialite and a down to earth lobsterman. I have...plans...and their good plans too...but, I am finding once again, the swirling chaos that is my life makes it difficult for me to finalize my plans. I am certain about the ending, it is a tragedy after all (although there is an upbeat, hopeful note), other than that, I have a point A and point B and a whole lotta roads in between!
I am optimistic that this week I'll have a better map. As to Saturday? OMG I can't wait!!

I'm writing an urban fantasy. I've started a couple of character sketches, but am nowhere near ready to start NaNoWriMo. I'm hoping to accomplish a lot tomorrow at Panera, along with some socializing! :-)
My log line goes like this:
A young woman with paranormal abilities is being pursued by a government shadow agency, and a power-hungry religious cult leader, and she needs to find her uber powerful grandmother before they find her.

I am writing an odd combination of genres, from romance to thriller, from psychological to fictional elements. It is a simple story, however, about four foster care boys who find themselves in one house together. As they each deal with the system that rules their lives, they have to learn to adapt to who they are, accept their past, and face their future. It is difficult to explain, as the idea is somewhat more complex in my mind.

I'm more used to writing Sci-Fi and supernatural stuff. But for my first nanowrimo year I'll be writing a Criminal/Romance novel. :3 Being a romance novel all in itself makes it a complicated plot line. It's based in Chicago in 1920. The main character is a 19 year old girl named Sal. Her and her family are very poor so they pickpocket and beg for the money they receive. Anyway, Sal get's caught stealing an ex cop's pocket watch (smooth move) and he takes her as his prisoner. That's all I'll say for now since its really really really complicated...well not really. Just a lot of stories going on at once.
I've been working on trying to do character charts for Ben, the love interest because he really isn't that deep right now lol. I'll also be writing my first sex scene this year. *sweat drop* WISH ME LUCK!

Well, I was going to write the third part of my Del and Ed story, Sojourn to Hell, but I already have 14k words written on that. Then I was going to do Brethren but that's working out to be my pre-nano book, its now at 18k. I think I'm just going to wait until Friday night to figure out what I'm going to write. I'm stuck on this whole vampire thing. Although who knows, something else might just pop up... I know I'll be able to write it I'm just not sure what I'm going to write.
Maybe I'll write the sequel to the book I'm querying now. Hmm I really do have to get going on it.
So, tentatively... paranormal romance, maybe...
Well, it'll be paranormal something or other any way...
