I've been working on my outline for Nano and was just wondeing if anyone else knew what they were doing?

This year mine is a mystery/thriller. Every waking moment. I have the synopsis on my nano profile :) I think I'm ready to hit the keyboard at midnight Nov 1st .

It's going to be an adventure this year working on NaNo and working for the paper :)

I'm getting really worried. What I have up on my NaNo site is not what I'm going to work on unless I don't come up with something. And I've only got **EIGHT** days to come up with something. I'm so upset.

There's nothing to worry about hon. What you need to write will come to you when it's ready. :) Maybe to spur some ideas you could go though some books with writing prompts. They always have great starters. Or try something like the site One word. http://oneword.com/index.html

They give you a word and you have one minute to write whatever comes to your mind from that word. I've been able to use a few of these for story starters.

Crusnik, this is actually a great time to start planning your novel. One week gives you just enough time to get an idea for your novel without getting so involved in it that you overplan and end up struggling to write. (Think Hamlet with penceils or laptops.) With a generalized idea, you can sketch out ideas without minute details bogging you down. Use this week to rev yourself up November and enjoy it. The mystery of what's to come can be half the fun!

As for myself, I have a hazy plot...the idea that jumped out to me happens to involve a number of topics I'm not all too familiar with, so I'll be learning a lot this month. However, I'm sticking to a favourite genre of mine, mystery, at least. It's looking to be a fluffy mystery, but still. :)

I was thinking of doing a collection of short stories and as I go along, start connecting them till at the end, it turns out to be one story. I don't know if I can pull it off, but that's one of the many ideas keeping me up at night. I also discovered that the parental units from Ohio will be down here for one month. Which month? Really? You can't guess which month? Yuppers... the month of November.

Good luck everyone!

Cool Nancy

I think that's a great idea. I can't wait to see how you connect them. My family is from OH too. Me and my boyo are the only ones that are Floridians LOL. They're all from South Lebanon. It's pretty up there right now from the pics I've seen from my aunt with the trees turning.

I'm trying something new this year: every time I get stuck I'm going to pull a Tarot card and use its interpretation to guide the plot.

I want to write a fantasy novel. I've had this one story in my head for such a long time, I want to finally get it down on paper. This is my first year participating. I'm 5 days behind in this since I just discovered this site today, though, so I don't know if I will ever make it to 50k words in time x_x
