If this was closer to my area I would go, but I'm not up for that much of a drive on my homework day!
If you decide to do one more toward our area (I'm in South Bend) let me know!

Shadowfox, just so you know, you are MORE than welcome to stay with us, but there is also a Notre Dame Region and it isn't just for students. Maybe that would have events closer to you?

I will be at the Valpo Panera Bread. My roommate will most likely come as well, even though he is not participating in NaNo.

I will try my best to be at Valpo one. No garuntee, though. I'm telling the VHS Writers Block club about it this week, though. Not sure I'd they can come... But they might. Ten kids at most, assuming they don't drag their own friends...
(lol, typing on my iPod, which doesn't spell check unfortunately. And I just got home from a party... Excuse any typos/nasty gross mistakes, pl0x)

As with Ekhidna, 1 pm just doesn't work for me. Work however is a great place to write!

Change of schedule, change of schedule.
I can make it to the Valpo event! At around six, probably, but I"ll freaking be there. Yay!

Even tho the Borders is more like the Food Court, I'll be there. I'm debating how masochistic I'll be before I decide about making Valpo too. Borders may have more plugs than Barnes but they don't have as much seating and I don't think their wifi is free. Just saying...

Borders WiFi is now free :) Even if it wasn't, I think that would be a good thing. I don't need the WiFi to distract me ;-)
Anyway, I am glad you can make it! It is going to be a good time :)

All of Indiana changes now I believe except a little place by Indy.
Merrillville and Valpo are in the same time zone anyway.

The wi-fi is free.
The meetings I go to there are generally in the cafe and the manager of that space is very writer-friendly.
It's just noisy when they turn on the blender or the cappuccino machine.
And, they do have more plugs than B&N because B&N doesn't have ANY plugs for folks that bring laptops!! (at least, not in the cafe). And B&N is NOT friendly to writers and writers groups... which is why the HWG moved from there. Even when we provided the manager with receipts from group members totalling almost $300 per month in sales, they weren't impressed. I'm not a big fan of that chain.
Panera is great for writing and getting fed, but not conducive to large groups, from what I've seen.

I agree Panera isn't the BEST choice, but at the time it was the only other place I could think of lol!
I want to have a write in at some point at Lakeshore Coffee in Michigan City. They are so nice and said we could take over their 2nd floor :)
I can't wait to see you all tomorrow!

Consider my RSVP at the Valpo location. I know I have a friend (or two) that will more than likely be joining me. I'm pretty excited, as this is my first NANO. I'm looking forward to seeing some new faces today!

I wasn't aware of the B&N Cafe attitude. Because I usually go in there solo, they've never given me any grief. They do have 'a' plug, but it's on the store side of the wall that's perpendicular to the windows, by the middle pillar. I've never liked sitting anywhere but the corners or the bar by the windows, so I've never worried about that. And you're right about Panera, with all those round tables.
I was surprised about how well Borders worked out today, and aside from the oven, it was really fun. I'll be happy to go back there for Saturday.

Hi. I am glad I got to meet those who were at the Panera party. I don't get out much to such events owing to my afternoon hours so I was happy just to be in a "social" gathering in Valpo.
Lucky for me it's a full moon.
Anyway, if you were there and want to be a writing "buddy" with me, you know the drill.

Ended up not being able to make the M-ville party after all because I got sick on Saturday -- I've pretty much been coughing 24/7 since then. :p How did the kickoff go?
Getting ready to update my word count soon. Writing is going well so far!! Hope to be able to join one of the write-ins later this month.
