Hi y'all,
Here it is, the post you've all been waiting for. The venue has been confirmed and I can now reveal the details for the KO.
Date: 31st October.
Location: The Cambridge Blue public house in Gwydir Street.
Time: 7:00pm-> chucking out time!
We'll have the same theme as last year: come dressed as one of your characters, doesn't have to be a main character, any one will do. Dressing up isn't compulsory, but bearing in mind the date and the fact that the pub is having a costume competition there's likely to be a good number of people in there dressed up.
The meet will be followed at midnight by the first write-in of the month, held in the chat room. That will go on until at least 2am, I'll put it on the calendar in a mo.
What should you bring to the party? Not much apart from yourselves and any accessories for your costume (and money to buy drinks and/or food). You can bring other things if you want, but it's not compulsory.
If you're intending to come along, please reply to this message so that we can get an idea of how much of the pub we're going to be taking up. Also, if you're under 14 and want to come along to a KO please let us know so we can see if there's enough interest in another KO somewhere else. :-)

Turns out I may be able to make it after all, just the simple matter of negotiating several trains the next morning. So if people could make sure I don't drink too much that would be good. I don't really want to turn up to my great-uncle's 90th with a hangover the size of a 50,000 word novel.

Yay, good news, elyoda. :D Here's for no hang-over. :)
As for me, I had a word with my double booking this evening. Coincidentally it was Rob & Marie who came last year; they're not NaNo'ing as Marie is studying midwifery and they're busy preparing for their wedding at the end of December. :)
Anyway, they too had realised that it was the NaNo Kick-Off, so they understood if I might want to be elsewhere. The plan is to go to the KOP and then see them afterward; as a result I may leave a bit earlier than I would do otherwise, but I wouldn't want to miss it if I could help it. :)
And I would like to point out that this 'minor' scheduling error was the fault of my diary-system; I'm not firing my girlfriend just yet though. ;) :P

I wish i could make it, I love any excuse to dress up and my novel is a supernatural period drama so coul dhave managed something epic to wear out of that :D Sadly I live in the villages outside of Cambridge and do not drive so getting back would be difficult.
I hope everyone takes loads of photos of thier outfits though and wil share them on here! <3

Hi everyone,
A couple of points about the party.
1. There is limited seating available, and though we have space reserved, if enough people turn up we may have to spill out into the main area, so if you want to ensure you get a seat please try and turn up earlier rather than later.
2. We will be bringing goodie bags once more - there are a limited number of these as well and they will be allocated on a strictly first-come, first served, basis. If you bring along a friend or significant other who is not taking part in Nano, they will not be entitled to a goodie bag, so please don't ask for one. :-)
