Well, I'm a little confused! NaNoWriMo begins next Sunday and I've not heard anything from anyone in this region!

Where is everyone???

Well, I know that some people don't come into the forums very often. I have my notifications set up so I get an email telling me when someone posts in here. I've been "hanging out" in the mainstream genre forum due to the fact that's where my novel falls this year. I'm also in the "Pen Hens." :-D

I also just joined "Bell County" in the hopes of getting to know a few more people. You could try Bell County as well, or maybe join the general Texas group.

I'm always around to chat with, too. ;-)

Hi there!

I thought about joining the Bell County, but I looked at it and saw their write-ins are in Belton, etc., much too far for me to travel!

Are you in Killeen? I'm about 20 miles north of Lampasas!

I'm on twitter as Lanettas and we are using the hashtag #nano or #nanowrimo ...

Thanks for responding!

I haven't looked at where they're having their write-ins and the like. I'm blessed in the fact that my husband is also doing the NaNo. Add in the fact that we have 3 kids, and we'll probably just stay home most of the time. Though I might escape periodically and hit a local Starbucks or something. He gets Sundays to go on base and watch football for a game or two since we don't have cable. :-) So, I'll pick an evening and head off myself.

But yes! I am right by Ft. Hood. It's just as easy for us to head into Copperas Cove as it is to go to Killeen. I looked on the map to see where Lometa was. Wow. That's way out there. I don't blame you for not wanting to drive to Belton for a write-in.

We're new to the area, so I'm still trying to figure out which way is up. :-)

As much fun as a true write-in could be, we might have to just settle for a "virtual" one. LOL Then again, I'm happier online than I am in person. Just that whole nervousness, meeting new people thing. ;-) I don't really go through that much online. Probably why I have "friends" scattered all over the US and none where we live now. LOL

Waiting for Nano to start,
Erin

Welcome to the area!

I attended A&M Central Texas (Tarleton) and took many classes on base! That was a 45 mile trip, one way! So glad it's over!

I totally understand! I think it's great your husband is doing nano, too! I've been trying to talk mine into it, but I know he won't!

I'm on facebook....and joined the nano group there.... it's a virtual support system, like twitter, so I'll just stick with that rather than another region....

Good luck on your project!

Thanks, Lanetta! I hope you have great luck with yours as well. :-) I sort of "cheated" today and sketched out the first part of it to check out my typing speed while trying to write out the story idea. I think I hate it already! Oddly enough, I have this idea in my mind that I briefly sketched out YEARS ago. Probably 9 years? Anyway, major relationship crash, computer crashed, and I lost all interest in working on it. Until now... The idea periodically floats back into my mind and it did just now. It's more in the realm of Fantasy which I prefer to write. This year's plot line that I adopted was mainstream fiction with a mystical twist. For some reason, trying to pull that idea out of my head and slap it on the "paper" was one of the hardest things I've ever tried to do. It just wouldn't flow. I still have time to change it though. :-) I'll give that serious consideration before the 1st.

Talking my husband into it wasn't hard. When he heard that I was doing it, his first words were, "I wish I could too." Then, he realized that we could both work on it in the evenings when the kids went to bed, and that was the end of that. LOL He came up with some crazy idea and he's going to go with it. He's currently working on a book as well. He got more done when he was overseas though. I think he likes the idea of me being amused with something else so he can write too. To tell you the truth, I'm surprised he didn't snap up that time to finish his book instead.

Anyway! I'll yabber on forever. LOL I need to explore both of my ideas now and see which one I want to go with.

Welcome to the Land of Mountain Cedar. If you start feeling sick and hay-feverish during December through March, you're probably allergic to mountain cedar. Like 80% of the population. :)

That wasn't a nice welcome, was it? Let me try again. *confetti and balloons* Pwwwwwwwweeeeeee!! Welcome to This Place Here! :D

There's one good thing about writing without a set plot. You come up with ideas off the fly that are as much a surprise to yourself as to everyone else, so that does make interesting plot twists. However...my ideas, though brilliant when I tried this method, were executed in such an odd manner that they made almost no sense. They were amusing though. :D Not to mention that they were some of the most illogical blather I've ever seen.

This time, on about the sixth revision of the same book (whoo?), I've written out the plot in satisfactory detail so I know what's going on. It's still flexible though, and I'm liking the 'this is what's going on but find a way to make it interesting' method quite well. I write fantasy. :D

The Bell County Kick-Off Party is next Saturday but my parents won't let me go. D: Which is exactly what I thought they'd say. I have got to learn how to drive.

You're funny. :-D I have lived in an area in CO before that had this same cedar. I don't think I'm allergic to it, but we'll see. Things seem to change as we get older. I personally always get a cold every time the seasons change. It's very annoying, but if I only get sick 4 times a year, I'm okay with it. :-)

I won't be attending the kick-off. Three boys + Halloween = insanity. LOL

I have no idea what to expect from this, so if my story follows a semi-coherent line, I'll be happy. :-) Though I am hoping for the "win" and a decent story. I want that Createspace.com code. That's my personal prize at the end. For me, it's a strong one. :-)

Good luck!
