So how many of you already have your ideas? I just got mine early this morning (I keep strange hours) and it hit me like a bullet train.
I'm not asking you to share your idea with me but if you want to that's great. Mine is going to be about a girl who sees, hears and juts basically interacts with ghosts and angry spirits. The story will unfold as she talks to her therapist. So it'll be mostly dialogue but I think the last chapter will be "as it happens". I'm thinking that one of the ghosts will kill her but I'm not sure. I'm just figuring this out :)

It's funny, my story keeps changing on me in no way that is even remotely under my control. Which, I think means it's improving itself! Usually with these things it's best to let them sort it all out on their own...
It started as just a romance thing. Then the family dynamic got involved. A sick parent. Then the sick parent turned into a mentally ill mother, which I have some experience with. So I'm starting to explore some of my own feelings alongside my MFC's feelings. It's actually pretty cool. Never done this before.
It'll either work out amazingly or blow up in my face. Either way, should be fun to watch!

I have about a page's worth of ideas, and not paragraph ideas, I mean just basic writing prompts, and with how I tend to write, well. . .I shouldn't have any problems meeting the 50,000 words this year, save for every last piece of hardware I lay my hands on frying itself the instant I lay my hands on it.
If that starts happening, for God's sake, keep your computer AWAY from me!

You all seem to have very interesting methodologies.
My idea just kind of jumped on me. I happen to see ghosts myself and the other day one grabbed my shoulder. Not so pleasant when you're home alone in the dark. I have yet to be actually attacked and I do hope that never happens. But they seem to like to show themselves to me, whether they have good intentions or bad. And I really hope that writing about it doesnt cause anything bad to happen.

@Kat.M.Stillwell - Just don't go see Paranormal and then write in the dark. o.O =) I'm not as adventurous as that, give me a safe solid murder mystery any day. lol. Or explosions! Yep explosions will do nicely....

I love murder mysteries. But ghost movies and movies on the paranormal do freak me out. Even in daytime. My husband and I borrowed Poltergeist from the library and I can't watch it alone or in the dark! lol. It makes me feel silly but boy does that stuff get to me.

My idea mushroomed in my head last night at work and it keeps growing, so it's like the story wants to get on paper finally, after all these years.

My theory on writing is that each story knows how its supposed to unfold. It's simply the writer's job to put it down on paper properly. (I feel the same way about artwork-each piece of paper is meant to have something specific on it. It doesn't look right when you put the wrong picture on the right piece of paper)
So, using that theory, my story has been telling me mostly the ending. I don't have a name for my MC, only know that it is a female. I don't know her job, how she looks, acts, etc. Except that she can see and interact with ghosties. But the story tells me that she will end up in an asylum the day after halloween. And in the end maybe she was just crazy after all. But maybe the things she claims to happen actually happen. Who knows. But the story tells me these things, it wants these things. So, being the obedient writer/slave, I must write it down as it comes to me.

Nice! At least your story talks to you. All I get from mine are wild emotions and iritated facial expressions. My Muse, btw, is no help so far. He just flicks his tongue and smirks. (lizard) =)
