Wow, it looks like we're going to have a great turnout for the MeetNGreet on Tuesday --I'm SO looking forward to meeting everyone!

And, with Nano beginning in JUST ONE WEEK (eek!), I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of the our KICKOFF WRITE-IN.

Beginning at 11:30pm on October 31st, we will kick off NaNo with a Write-In. So get a jump on your manuscript once you're done with the Trick-or-Treating

The Grind
1513 East Main Street
Murfreesboro

This is a neat little late-night coffee shop located on Main Street in the MTSU area. There are comfy couches and chairs, and they are usually open until 2am or so and welcome us for a late-night write in. $5 gets you bottomless coffee or tea, but bring a few extra bucks for late-night munchies. For more info on the grind, read the Murfreesboro Post article http://www.murfreesboropost.com/news.php?viewStory=10120

Please RSVP to this message to let us know if you'll be able to join us!

I've never been to a write in. I usually start at midnight and write till 2am or so. Usually I can get 2k in that time, without distractions. So what actually goes on there? Everyone just keeps to themselves and works like mad, or is t here interaction?

Anyway, I'm not sure what my schedule is for that day. If I have to close, I may sneak on over for awhile. I'll let you know for sure in a day or two.

C.

During the write-ins, of course our major objective is to get some serious writing done. They're a place and a time that gets us out away from our normal distractions, but we'll also be doing a few things to keep them fun and productive at the same time.

For this first write-in, we'll socialize and count down till Midnight and then each person will have some time to get started on their story. At future write-ins, we'll have Word Sprints (where we compete against each other for a preset time) and members will be able to socialize and brainstorm with each other --work through plot points and let some tension go with like-minded folks.

So, to answer your question, a little bit of both --socializing and serious writing.

And, don't forget --we're playing NaNo Poker this year, so every event you participate in gives you a chance to pull a new Poker card to build your best hand. Hands will be turned in at the TGIO part for fabulous prizes!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

One of the questions tonight was about WIFI at The Grind, so I stopped by tonight to chat with the owner, Kathy. She indicated that WIFI is usually accessible (from next door) which I translate as you should be able to access it, but no guarantee.

Also, if you haven't clicked thru on the link to the Murfreesboro Post article about The Grind, I wanted to point out that this is a Late Night coffee, tea and hookah emporium which means there may be smoking. If you are allergic or sensitive, you may want to skip this venue. I don't want anyone to be surprised and disappointed.

The next Write-In activity will be a VIRTUAL Write-In on Sunday, November 1st at 3pm. http://chatnano.net/tempchats/murfreesboro.html

Let's get ready to Rock'N'Write!

So excited about tonight, I can't stand it! 10 HOURS TO GO! W00t!

We have a write-in scheduled tonight at The Grind, beginning at 11:30pm and going until 2am (so long as I have company and caffeine) but to Amanda's point, daylight savings kicks in at 2am, so that could be a solid THREE HOURS of Nano progress. Just think what a head start that will give you!

Be sure to come by, because tonight you will have the chance to:

1. Draw your next NaNo Poker card
2. Receive a few brief words of encouragement sent to NaNoInTheBoro participants from Middle TN's NY Times Best Selling Author, Sherrilyn Kenyon!
3. Possibly announce a region we are going to war with (waiting confirmation at the moment0

Hope to see you there tonight! And don't forget our Virtual Write-In tomorrow at 3pm!

I will be there. I may not be there at exactly 11:30, because of Halloween parties and stuff (which I would actually rather avoid), but I do live right down the street from The Grind, so I have absolutely no reason not to come at some point. I've downloaded yWriter, and have spent hours getting my notes ready.

I hope I can make it between 11:30 and 2:00, anyway. I will use all reasonable effort.

Sorry, everybody, by the way, that I've neglected the forum so hard. Every time I think about NaNoWriMo lately, I find myself thinking about another character that needs fleshing out. I'm gonna go through the other forum pages, make an introduction, and whatnot.

Mwahahahahah!

Only FOUR HOURS till Nano starts!

So glad to see I'll have some company tonight at The Grind! I have no idea what to expect there --what with all the Halloween falderall going on. It could be peaceful and quiet if folks are out-and-about, or busy and smoky if folks are hanging-out. Regardless, it'll be open LATE, so we can get going on our manuscripts.

UltramagAC --great to hear from you and look forward to meeting you. Come when you can --we'll be there a while! You should recognize us as the group to the side, hunched over keyboards. ;)

See y'all soon!
