So... Elephande and I have been discussing good times for Write-ins, and we've figured out two times that work for us, in two different locations, so maybe, just maybe, it's convenient for all of you other Conroe, TW, Spring, etc. people out there! So, here's the tentative schedule... (And Pata, if you want to put this on the calendar, I'd love you forever!)

Mondays from 2-5ish
Panera Bread near the Woodlands Mall

Fridays, time TBA (probably afternoon)
Montgomery County Central Library, near I-45 and HWY 105 in Conroe

As it is, we're planning on meeting up this Monday, the 26th. So if any of you can come, that'd be great! :D

Added to calendar. :)

I made up times for the meets on Fridays, so alert me if they need to be changed later.

About that... Are you sure you want to meet at 2-5am? >.>

(Just wanted to clear this up. :p I'm sure I'm not the only one who was puzzled.)

I'm not sure how that happened...

*scratches her head*

However, problem solved now!

Thanks for telling me. :)

Check the times for the library. I know that the South Branch closes at 5 on Fridays (and Saturdays). Not sure about the Central Branch.

2-5? Sorry, working at those times.

Central closes at 5 on Fridays. We could make it later if it's more convenient for you, Ytak.

Edit: X.X I was wrong... it closes at 5. but we can always shift over a block to Panera on 105... :)

Ytak, I'll be at Panera most of the day on Mondays, if you wanted to come join me later. We did 6 last year on Tuesdays, and I'll be there at 6 on Mondays this year. Feel free to drop by - that goes for anyone.

Write ins at their best are open ended - the only time constraints are when the location closes. The Panera one is scheduled to start at 2 pm on Mondays, but you'll probably find me there from noon to 9, when they close.

Heh. Whoops. Just realized I completely missed this first one. ^-^;; I was watching a friend make a banner, and I'm not exactly ready for the day...still >.> I'll try to come the other times though.

(sorry for the double-post)

I've gotten permission from the Central Library staff to use the back corner of the top floor (by the Sci-Fi section) as long as we need, as long as we're gone by closing. So I'll be there from 1-5 this Friday... if anyone wants to join me. My sister (hotorange409) and my friend (RedneckTexan) will be there with me, and I hope to see all of you there!

Pata, could you add the 30th to the calendar for me?

Also, there are directions to the Library in the 'Northern Areas!' thread, but I'll reiterate them here:
Going North- take I-45 to the HWY 105/Wilson Rd. exit (the exits are not numbered yet, due to construction). At the stop light, turn left, and go under the interstate. Left at the next light, onto the South-bound feeder. TAKE THE SIDE ROAD TO THE RIGHT, towards some apartments, and next to the bridge. Do NOT take the bridge to the left. Next light, turn left, under the interstate again, and finally, a left at the North-bound feeder. Library's on the right, two-story building.
Alternatively, take the FM 2854 exit, just before the Wilson Rd. exit, and head North on the feeder. This actually takes longer, though, because of stoplights and railroad tracks.
Going South- take the HWY 105 exit, follow the feeder, but do NOT go over that bridge! :) Take the road to the right, headed towards those apartments. Left at the Light, under the interstate, left at the next light, right into the library.

So, who should I expect to see at Panera tomorrow afternoon? Remember, it's listed as 2-5, but it's really 2-9 - so come when you can.

Hm. Well, as of 4 pm, I appear to be the only nano-er in Panera Bread near the Woodlands mall. That's vaguely disappointing :/

That's too bad that no one showed up. I thought I might make it for an hour or two, but I had a sudden work thing. Mondays are not good for me.

Is anyone interested in write-ins on the weekend at all?

Weekends are iffy for me.

And over the eightish hours I was there, there were three other people there at various times. Not the turnout I might have expected, but it's only the first one.

Hm. Well. I have strange, strange work hours. On weekends, I could do Friday after 5... Saturday before 4... or Sunday after 4. Wednesdays and Thursdays are way better for me, no work. *shrug* Let's just plan things every day, then someone's bound to show up XD

Just a reminder, be at the Conroe Central Library from 1-5pm this Friday! We're still meeting in the back corner of the second floor, by the Sci-Fi section. If you're not sure where that is, talk to the people at the Reference Desk, at the top of the stairs. They know all about our group. :)

Man...

Why do all the North Houston events have to be scheduled in the MIDDLE of the day? D:

I work Monday to Friday 8a-5p... so every event I've read about so far happens between 11a-5p. >_< Are there any events designed with the working adult in mind?

I will try to make the Library tomorrow, but between doctor's appointments and work, it might be hard. If people are at Panera in the evening, I would try to be there about 7:00 or so.

I'd also be interested in evening write-ins, but don't get off work until nearly 7:00, usually. So it would have to be at a place that serves food or I wouldn't make it til like nine.

What about using places like IHOP or Denny's for after 5 meet-ups? Those places usually don't care how long you stay (at least they never have in my experience) as long as you order *something*. They've never kicked me and my friends out when we have our weekly meet-ups and we stay for HOURS. As long as we aren't rowdy and stuff, I've never known lingering to be a problem.

Heck, I wouldn't mind taking over the food court at Deerbrook Mall for an afternoon, if we had to. XD Or BN is open til 9 or 10. I work at Bush Intercontinental, so anywhere around Humble/Spring after 5 would be brilliant.

Oh, and for those who might be out and about... I'm probably going to hit the Texas Renaissance Festival this weekend so I can watch the blacksmithing exhibition (research for my novel), but we're planning to make it an all-day event. :) Might even bring a notepad in case I get some strokes of genius while I'm out.

We need to be more specific in the calendar... any North Houston Panera Bread meeting lasts till close. (usually around 9.) Elephande will be there today (Thursday) and he's there most days... he describes himself as a 'Panera Lurker' ;) I am not able to come to evening write-ins, personally, because my only way of making money at the moment is small babysitting jobs, which tend to be in the evenings, so I have to leave them open. :( But I'm available almost every afternoon.

But, like I said, Elephande is almost ALWAYS at the Panera in the Woodlands, till 9. PM him and he'll get with you on a day. He's going to be there today - he just called me to have me post this lol!

Lurker's a good word. I'm here at Panera, and will be, probably until it closes. If you want to, feel free to join me. I'll probably be in a corner somewhere, and I'm wearing a Biggio jersey t-shirt.

So, being new to write-ins... What do you BRING to a write-in?

As a side-note: I think it would be prudent to include the addresses of the places these are taking place. The maps provided on the main page aren't too helpful.
