I'm currently very torn between getting ready for Nano and freaking out about making sure I keep up with coursework. I'm Sarah, a freshman at the College of Charleston, living on campus, and was wondering if any other CofC students were crazy enough to sign up for NNWM this year, too. =D

Well, it's not CofC, but I'm still battling crazy school work in my quest for Nano. It'll be fine- all you have to do is learn not to sleep, and you'll be fine.

Aha, the Not Sleeping method. I've never been so great at that particular skill. Practice makes perfect, I guess. =O

I'm not CofC-- yet, anyway. I'm at CSU, but I plan on transfering down there next year. But like Pip said, you'll be able to do it! I've been balancing NaNo and school for 4 Novembers now.

Hahaha, I doubt I'll be taking up coke any time soon, but it's good to know it's possible. It's gonna be tough - but not impossible. :)

I'm also a freshman at the College of Charleston. I'm learning that you actually have to pay attention in most of your college courses, so I don't think I'll be writing during class, but I love to sit at the park at least once a day, so I'll probably write then. I'm so glad I'm not the only CofC freshman doing this. Yay!

Are you going to the write-ins? They are far far away in north Charleston away from our no car student selves. Haha

I don't know. They are really far away and I have no idea how to read the bus schedule. If I can I will, but it doesn't look good. I'm up for a mini write-in, though. What about you? Are you making the trek across the city by any means possible or are you staying close to home/dorm/whatever.

I'm a little concerned with how far away the write-ins are. And the whole issues of no-cars-for-freshman irritates me.

I say we organize an on-campus write-in. Anyone else up for it? :3

Oh man, I didn't realize that freshment CofC students weren't allowed to have cars. The only CofC students that we've had before were older and had cars and had no problems (*that I know of*) getting to the Write-Ins.

If you guys want an Official Write-In downtown, just let me know a good place (I'm not as familiar with downtown - the only coffee shop I know of is the Starbucks near the Aquarium) and a good day/time. I'll do my best to set one up - even if it means having two Write-Ins the same week.

That being said, if anyone needs a ride to a Write-In let me know. My car fits five people and I have no problem swinging by downtown to pick some people up. I really did not have any idea about the car situation downtown.

Yeah I'm all for mini-write ins in the downtown area. my guess the best place would be either the Cistern because its large and Has wi-fi or we can do it at the kings street starbucks the second floor has plenty of room.

@Becka: No worries! Yeah, freshmen aren't technically allowed to have parking permits for on-campus parking (or something along those lines; I'm not really sure since I don't know how to drive at all in the first place so it was never a concern for me) and the only ones who do have cars with them here have bought semi-permanent spaces in parking garages. This does make it kind of difficult for freshmen to get over to where the first organized write-in is, though.

@ramaccor: I would totally vote for the Cistern except it's outdoors and my laptop's battery dies so, so quickly. I've never been to the Starbucks on Kings Street, but that sounds like a great idea. :3

Either is good for me, but I definitely would prefer the starbucks. The Cistern lacks outlets and I have to douse myself in bugspray because of all the mosquitoes.

I can't wait. One more day!

If there is a write-in tomorrow, I would prefer if it were later in the afternoon, just because I'm not coming back to campus until around 3 or 4, but whatever's best for the majority is best for me - I just might not be able to make it. D:

Hmm. The issue with Tuesdays is I have club meetings every week on Tuesday at 6. As long as we can do the write-in before 6 or after about 7, then that's fine with me. :)

I need to direct my CofC friend to this thread. O.o She was complaining about the no car thing and how she couldn't get to them...Well...now she just might have some to go to.

Oh man, I really wish the email notifications were working. I missed so much! Anyway, I eat dinner at 6 pretty much everyday. Mondays and Thursdays don't really work for me. Tuesdays I'm free after 4 and Wednesdays and Fridays are the best because I'm done with classes at 2. Given proper warning I could probably rearrange the dinner thing.

Honestly, if Wednesdays are good for you, Imaginary_Rose, then I vote for Wednesdays - I'm done with classes at noon. :D

Would Wednesdays work well for everyone else? :O

I am a CofC Freshman as well, and would love to join in a write-in. (Though, to be honest, I'm not entirely sure what a "write-in" is. O.o;) I don't know why, but i keep forgetting how big of a deal NaNo is, and thus thought I was the only CofC student doing it. >.<; I got lucky because I only have one class that gives homework, but I'm spazzing out a little because it seems like my teachers are out to get me with exams and tests and just pure HELL throughout November. Oy. But I'm going to try my best anyways! ^_^ I am SO pumped up and ready to win!

I'll throw it on the calendar for you guys after lunch.

Are any of you interested in an Official Write-In the weekend of the 21st downtown? Let me know. We don't have a write-in scheduled for that weekend yet.

The Starbucks at the corner of King and Calhoun, I believe.

Just curious, but is anyone going to fiction writer's workshop at the public library tonight? It's from 7 to 9 and I'll, hopefully, be there.
