I need to get more information on that. Because I'm wondering what the LJW does with all the novels sent to them at the end of the month. Anyone happen to know?

Nice job! Did you get an email or something from LJW? I've not heard anything about blog space...

I posted in my newly created LJW blog and told it to post in the NaNo group. Pretty simple. Regular html worked just fine for the links.
The whole process is kind of confusing, so I just took a chance and experimented.

Excellent! Thanks for getting the ball rolling on this group blog thing. I'll try to come up with something to post too.

Hi--
I happened to see the subject heading on your note that said (Sticky) Journal World Contest. I was unable to follow the thread of this conversation, but I'm from Lawrence and am involved in this contest as well. I had a question-- Once we submit our 50,000 word manuscript, will the LJW automatically contact us or do we have to contact them? Is the LJW giving some sort of certificte that is separate from the one the National Novel Writing Month Association is giving?

The LJW contest is completely separate from NaNoWriMo. I'm still working with them on how we're going to handle manuscript submissions for entering the contest. I recognize that some people may not want to hand over (physically or electronically) a copy of their story to the Journal World. I'll have more details as the end of the month approaches.

A few people have expressed concern about sending their manuscripts to LJW at the end of November. For folks that are new to NaNoWriMo, you'll also have to submit your novel to the nano servers towards the end of the month in order to validate your word count.
If you're worried about privacy, make sure you read the FAQ about scrambling your manuscript. You can basically submit a document full of nonsensical words that will satisfy the word counter without submitting your actual story.
