1. GET HOMED! Make Georgia::Macon your home region! This will do a bunch of things, including signing you up for regional emails sent to the whole group and adding your word count to our regional stats.
If you’re not affiliated with Macon, go to My NaNoWriMo and click My Regions. On the Regions tab, locate Macon, and click Join. Then click Join again.
If you are already affiliated, do not pass Go. Proceed directly to the Home Region tab. On the Home Region tab, click the circle beside United States::Georgia::Macon, and click the Set Home Region button. That’s all there is to it!

2. Think about donating. The Office of Letters and Light is a non-profit group, and they need our help to keep NaNoWriMo running year after year. The obvious way to donate is to head to the Donation Station (https://store.lettersandlight.org/?cat=2&sort=price&sort_direction=0) . You’ll get a shiny halo over your username, and a warm fuzzy feeling inside. However, not everyone has the free funds to do this, and we all understand. Perhaps you’ve been thinking of buying Chris Baty’s book, No Plot, No Problem? If you order it through the Amazon link on the site here, Amazon will donate a few cents to NaNo. Or you can go visit Good Search (www.goodsearch.com/?charityid=845878) and use that as your search engine. They’ll donate every time you search, and it works all year round, not just in November.

3. Do your laundry and clean your house. Seriously. Once you get into NaNo, it somehow seems more important to get in another 50 or 100 or 500 words than to wash a load of clothes. Trust us, your friends and family will appreciate this one.

4. Plan multiple save strategies if you'll be using a computer. Consider buying a USB drive if you don't already have one. Think about a privacy-protected blog. Set up an email address. You will want to have AT LEAST two ways to save your work. There is nothing worse than losing 2000 words because something hiccuped on your hard drive. (We've all been there - it sucks. A lot.)

5. Think about November's food - either cook in advance, buy things that are easy to make, or budget to eat out.

6. Plan a reward for yourself. Yes, yes, having a finished product and the pretty winner's bar are awesome, but many people benefit from a more tangible reward waiting at the end of the month. Perhaps a specialty coffee, or some high quality chocolate, or a new DVD? Personally, I’m going to go with a manicure/pedicure/spa day!

Does kidney dialysis to counteract the absolute wall of caffeine I will have replaced my bloodstream with count as a reward for myself?

If not, I think I will go with sleep. Sleep will be my reward. I don't see much of that happening in the immediate future...

Excellent list, by the way! These are the sorts of logistical things that only add to the madness if not addressed properly.

don't forget go to work. T_T which I'll sadly have to do a lot during the month of November but thankfully I'll have down times to churn out a few hundred words or a couple pages...*shrugs* we'll see.
