I decided to move my question under a new topic. So there are a few of us in Hubei this year. Are you all interested in trying to do a write-in? So far I see that there are two of you in Wuhan, so I could try to come out there one weekend. I could probably come either the 14th or the 21st. It would have to be a Saturday. I could take the bus out either Friday night or Saturday morning and write on Saturday afternoon. I'd have to take the bus back in the evening. I have a friend here too who is planning on doing nanowrimo too and she would probably come with me. I know that there are several Starbucks in Wuhan now that would probably be good places to meet or someone else may know a better place.

Yes, that would be freaking awesome! And they just put in a new high-speed train from here to Wuhan so it only takes two hours now :] and i love starbucks and haven't had any for months now.

i just talked to the other person here who's doing it (who i convinced to do it and assured her that when she had a breakdown, she could come to me) and she said she's definitely interested in a write-in in Wuhan :]

Hey I'm the one who's probably going to have the nervous break down on day 11! But yeah, we should totally have the write-in in Wuhan.

OK, so let's plan on the 21st for now unless something big comes up between now and then. We can plan to meet on that day between 1 and 5 in the afternoon and people can come and go as they like. Probably I will take the early morning bus out Saturday morning and the six o'clock bus back as I have things to do on Friday night and Sunday.
Which area in Wuhan would be better to meet in? I am most familiar with Wucheng, but there is also hankou and the other area that I can never remember the name of.

Hi!
the 21st would be fine for me as well. Saturdays typically work well for me (Sundays, alas, are teaching days. There are indeed several Starbucks in Wuhan. Or, if people prefer, I also know of a few other western coffee shops in the area. I'm familiar with both Wuchang and Hankou, though more so with Wuchang, as I live here. I only ever go to one place in the Hanyan district, so I don't know that area well. If you need help getting an address, I most likely could do so.

I'm also in Wuchang -
Hankou would also be okay (it's always a nice adventure going there by public traffic :D )
Hanyang - is there anything of interest? ;)
Jennifer, where does your bus go to? I guess it would be more comfortable for you if the write-in is not on the opposite river side of where your bus stops.

Actually the bus first stops in Hanyang and then from there I take a bus either to Wuchang or Hankou, but as said I don't think there is much in Hanyang. I think Wuchang is a little closer than Hankou.
If you guys in Wuhan could find a good place for us to meet that would be great. Preferably somewhere with lots of outlets for computers.

Yes, Yichang is just an hour from me and I was just there on Sunday. I usually go in every other week. We could have had a write-in in Yichang! What were doing there? Just traveling?
My friend Rose and I are talking about staying the night in Wuhan as well- probably that Saturday night. We want to have some time to do some shopping while we are there.
By the way, I have to say that I am quite impressed with your word count. Have you finished your novel or are you going to keep writing?
I have a personal goal to reach 60,000 this year. That's only 2,000 a day.

I just finished it today actually. but now im going to work on another novel that i sort of gave up in august and see if i can get 50k on that one too. or if i get bored, i might write a sort of prequel to this one :]
yeah, i was just in Yichang because i got bored of Xiangfan. i went and did some shopping mostly, stayed overnight with a (chinese) friend's aunt and uncle, which was really interesting.

Hi everyone! Are you all still up to meeting this Saturday? My friend Rose and I are planning on coming. It would be better for me if we meet in Wuchang. There is a Starbucks next to the xu dong Walmart. How about meeting there? Unless someone else found a better place. We will meet between 1-5. Look for two Americans one caucasian and one black. We will try to be there by 1 or before.

Seeking a couch to crash on, or two couches actually, for the night before the write-in and possible the night of the write-in (Friday night and Saturday night). If anyone who lives in wuchang has a spare couch please message me back.
Requirements: you cannot be a creepy weirdo, you cannot be a psycho killer, and you cannot be a guy. I and persephoneshell are both ladies, and I am positive that we are not creepy-weirdos nor pyscho-killers!

And Jennifer, how exactly does one get to this Starbucks? because I know nothing of Wuhan.

What do you mean "no couch seeking"? I'm trying to be cheap and save money! I would even sleep on those puzzle piece floor dealies if it were available.

hey guys, i got the Walmart address (in chinese) from my friend who's from there in case you want to give it to a taxi driver or ask someone:
徐东大街销品茂
He said that's the exact address on Xudong road.
