Hey all, for those who are interested in coming to a Kick-off party but who live WAY up North, please read the following:

Who: Any and all wrimos in the Tohoku area (or anyone else who feels like dropping in)

When: November 1st. 12:00 - 18:00 (show up whenever you can during that time period and stay for as long as you like)

Where: Sendai, Clis Road, Excelsior Cafe (subject to change but that's the current plan)

What: A kick off party (hopefully with stickers mailed to us by our lovely ML WillowWolf) and our 1st write-in (hence the six hour duration)

What to bring: Your lovely self (or whatever self you have lying around) and your laptop/notepad/pile o' napkins.

How much: Well, it's not like there's a cover at the door or anything, but the cafe would probably appreciate it if we all purchased a little something, so bring about 500yen and you should be all set.

Why: Because sharing the start of NaNoWriMo with other wrimos just adds to the fun. After all, November can wind up being a fairly anti-social month with all the word churning, so it's nice to get a little time in with other humans. Also, spending time with those who can sympathize with your own personal, self-inflicted insanity can make you feel better about the whole thing. And finally, because Word Wars feed the soul (not to mention your word count).

If you have any questions, or would like to attend, please either reply to this thread or to me directly. It would be great if I could have a rough idea of how many people will be attending. Thanks!

Great! Zash, it's fine if you're late. We'll see you whenever you show up! Korayne, will you be meeting us at the station or do you know where the excelsior cafe is?

I don't know about you guys but I can't wait to start writing. I think I've finally narrowed it down to one plot, and now it's just dying to be written.

Looking forward to seeing everyone. Keep the RSVPs coming!

I'll be there!

But I will have to meet ppl at the train station since I don't know my way around Sendai, much less where the Excelsior Cafe is. I should be coming in on the Hayate 10 around 1130.

Yay, Claire! I will be at the Station by 11:45 or 11:50 so we can meet people there and then walk to Excelsior from there. I will PM you with my cell number so that we can get in touch in case something happens and I'm late and you need directions. The cafe is actually fairly easy to find from the station, but we'll save that as a last resort. The plan is that I will meet you there (and anyone else who needs meet there first) at 11:45ish and then we will head to the cafe together. Is that ok?

It looks like I'm arriving at the same time, so I might as well meet you at the station too ^-^
I haven't actually been to Sendai before, so which exit would you like to meet at??

We should meet outside of the West Exit as that is closest to where we want to go and I will either be holding a sign that says NaNoWriMo on it, or I will be wearing a bright purple hat (depending on how cold it is and how much time I have to prepare signs). Also, if the weather is nasty then we can meet just inside the west exit. (The west exit is huge by the way, hence the sign/purple hat idea.)

Wish I could. I'll atill be recovering from my School Festivals and my 13 day workweek. I'll be in Sendai Nov 21-23rd. Maybe I can link up with those who live in the area.

West exit of Sendai station, aye.

Since it's the only highly visible shirt I have, I'll probably be wearing a bright red Rolling Stones shirt. Alas, most of my wardrobe is black, so I'd also have black pants and a black hoodie jacket on.

This sounds fantastic! I've always wanted to do a write-in ^_^

I should be able to come. I think I'll be coming by train, and will meet up with everyone at the station, if that's okay.

Ah, I'm not sure I'll be able to come after all >_<

I feel like I might be coming down with something (hopefully not the flu) and will probably just need to stay home and rest.

Sorry for the short notice! Hope you all have a great time!

Hi again all!

Sorry, but looks like I can't make it to the wrie in either. I'm really feeling sick and have been for a couple days. I was really (REALLY) looking forward to the write in, but I think I need to stay in and take it easy, maybe some meds too. I hope you all have a great time!

When will we have another write in? Hopefully before too long. I'll definitely make it next time, come rain or shine OR illness!

Anticipation and Zash, Sorry we missed you guys. I hope you feel better soon!

To Everyone who did make it, namely: ClaireR, Korayne, Cloudyskies, and HereticalVision, thanks for coming out! It was great to meet you all in a non-internet environment and to pound out some words together. Congrats to Cloudyskies and HereticalVision for winning the two word wars we managed to get in! You two trounced us all.

Just to inspire the rest of the region, I thought we could all post how much we got written at the write-in today, and then I can total it all up and make it pretty and enticing. I got a total of 2,656 words down at the write in itself. I'm still churning out words at home, though the 2.5 hr drive home took a chunk out of that for me and all my progress will now have to be listed as Nov. 2 word count, but that's fine with me. (Of course many of you had equally long, if not longer, trips home, so I can't really complain.)

Oh, and anyone who wants the NaNo Report Card *courtesy of one of my previous MLs back in the states,* PM me with a non nano e-mail address that allows attachments.

I hope that everyone (even those who didn't join us) had an awesome start to their official NaNoWriMo season! Congrats on completing your first full day of Nano. Word. (Hopefully at least 1667 of them.)

~Gwen
