Notes from the ML!

TITLE: Five days until NaNoWriMo 2009!

Hello Wrimos, and welcome (again) to writing in the Literary City! I’m your ML, Elysse, and we only have FIVE MORE DAYS until NaNoWriMo begins!

Our Kick-Off Party will be THIS SATURDAY (31 October) at 12.30pm (lunchtime!). It will be at the Library Bar in Teviot, Bristo Square (see Googlemaps link below), and they don’t check student IDs at this time. The room we’ll be in is easily accessible: once you enter Teviot, turn right until you reach the staircase. In front of you, to the right of the downward staircase, there is a room (part of the Library Bar, but seperate from the rest of it). Look for me—I’ll be wearing my highlighter-yellow ML shirt! Please bring a pen, a sense of fun, and some money if you want to buy a drink or snack!

Our first write-in is SUNDAY (1 November) at 4pm. We’ll be meeting in the back part of Starbucks on Princes Street, entrance above the Chinese medicine shop. If you’re walking towards the West End, it will be just past Castle Street and right before the scaffolding in front of the obnoxiously loud souvenir shop. We’ll be writing in the back where there’s lovely big tables. Look for me in my highlighter-yellow shirt and lots of laptops, notebooks, and bent heads.

Now is also a good time to support NaNoWriMo! There’s two ways to do this—you can donate, or you can buy some lovely swag from the NaNoWriMo store. I’ve already got this year’s t-shirt, and it’s nice to have a small collection going (I STILL kick myself for the year I didn’t get one!). There’s also some other great things on the website (I splurged on the merit badges). As for donating, it doesn’t have to be any large amount (even US$5 helps a lot!).
