I had a great time meeting some of our area Wrimos at the Meet and Greet last night and am getting psyched for the Midnight kickoff on Saturday night at the IHOP on Main St. near Day in Mishawaka. We're meeting at 11:30pm so that we can get some chatting in before the clock strikes midnight and our pumpkins turn into fairy tales. I've always wanted to kickoff NaNo with more than myself and my laptop. so this should be fun. And it involves pancakes, which is a bonus.

Those who were at the Meet and Greet, feel free to bring your nametags along to the kickoff or the write-ins. I'll bring nametags for those who weren't there. They're not lame nametags, I promise. They involve fruit carts and septuagenarians.

If we have enough people thinking of coming for the midnight kickoff, we might try to see if we can get a table ahead of time. How many are definitely planning to be at IHOP? How many "maybes"? How many would come if they had a ride?

I am a "maybe" at this point, but I should be able to refine my status later this week.

Barb, do you still have your connections with IHOP? Can you help us out with making sure there's room for us?

Yeah, I'll try and get a hold of Linda some time tomorrow and see if they can put aside the back for us again. Although, to be honest, when I called last year to set up something, they pretty much told me they didn't do reservations because there wouldn't be many people in there at that time. But I'll still try and touch base with Linda to save some seats by the outlets. Cuz, you know, my laptop is awesome but my battery sucks! I will be coming, but my pere Mr. Mirage and my hubby will not be coming. I will be able to gloat over their lowly word counts Sunday night!

Rock on!

I am a maybe at the moment. It just depends on if I have a ride or not.

Do we have a NaNo-NotreDame twitter page so that those who cannot attend the kickoff party might be able to catch updates/ make replies on what's happening from someone @ the IHOP with wifi?

Count me in for writing and pancakes. If I come in costume, it's just because there's a party on that side of town that I will be attending.

I'm a "maybe" leaning towards "probably not." But just in case my plans end earlier than I expect I'll zoom out there to partake in the sugary goodness. Don't be shocked when the witch walks in - I'm friendly. ;)

I'm a maybe, but not very likely. I'm definitely intending to be awake and writing, but I'm not so sure about driving home that late. I tend to be tired after midnight, and guess who has a teething child waking her up a couple times every night! Alas, being all grown up...never thought about those bits when I was a kid.

I can give rides if needed. How many would come if they had a ride?

Serenityanne, I don't know how to do Twitter, but I like the idea of having some kind of realtime communications for those who can't make it to write-ins. I'll start a new thread and see if folks have any ideas!

Can't make it (got a teething toddler, I'm a single mom, blah blah blah), but really appreciate the Twitter idea!

Hi everyone...I just signed on today. This sounds like so much fun but, I need to think about it. My laptop wont work without being plugged in. And I too have a baby. I will also be working til 11 that night. I just wanted to pop in and say hello. I am chomping at the bit and really am so inspired to see moms with other babies doing this. I am wondering if I am nuts to try this with a little one around! :o) I cant wait to get started though!

Upgrading to a "probably!" Seems all the Halloween parties I'm going to are going to be tonight, so it'll be more likely I can play at IHOP tomorrow night.

Tomorrow night? EEK. I am sooo not ready for NaNo.

Absolutely! And there should be a spot to plug in your laptop should you decide to bring it. I'm going to try to remember to bring a power strip for extra plug spots.

I did NaNo the first time when my youngest was a couple months old. It does make you feel strangely invigorated! By now, they've both gotten used to Mommy being busy and tired in November, but they're excited about it rather than feeling left out. In fact, my oldest (6) is doing NaNo with me this year! She's setting a goal of 3,000 words for herself, so we'll see how that goes.

I know! TOMORROW! My research is starting to come together. When you see me tomorrow, I will look far more organized than I actually am. Just don't be fooled. But, if it gives me good street cred, then by all means, prepare to be bamboozled.

Sigh...not going to make it at midnight. Up until a couple of weeks ago, we were living about 5 minutes from there. In fact, we just finished cleaning the rugs and turned in our keys this afternoon. If we were still there, I'd probably make it to IHOP at midnight. I'm having a twinge of regret...but not much, because if we were still there, I'd have a move to plan during NaNo.

I'll be writing at home, though.

SO THERE'S A FOOTBALL GAME TONIGHT and I don't know when it will be over

but if anyone is wandering by ND and felt like giving a ride, I would probably be up for it.

man I am so indecisive.

So are all of you going to be coming in costume? I seem to be noticing a trend. Do I have to rustle up a crown or pair of fangs? I could wear my ML t-shirt and come as a highlighter.

I'm still on the fence whether I am going or not. I function and write so much better in the morning (man I am getting old). Sorry I can't give ya a ride Jade. I would if I knew for sure I was going but I don't want to leave you stranded!

Laughing at the highlighter costume idea. Nice.

Have fun everyone!

I've been gone all day, and I have a long day tomorrow.

My plan is to sleep for like 5 hours, get up write for two hours, then sleep again before I gotta go to church in the morning xD

Ok, no costume (daughter's princess things are a bit too snug), but I'm trying to look festive. See you soon!
